Sure wish they would do one more double weekend on CoD4 and half price map pack. I kept missing out on that deal.

TinyEvel 01-16-2009 04:26 PM

I sure wish Treyarch would fix the glitching in half the MP maps on WaW.

It's really a buzz-kill to get continually shot by someone who's under the ground.

Anyone have any of the NBA Games?

Not sure If I want NBA Live or NCAA Basketball

Go with NBA 2k. The 2k series is vastly superior to NBA Live. I'm sure sure how NCAA Basketball stacks up.

aturnis 01-17-2009 04:35 PM

When are they going to bring back NBA JAM?

Midway needs to put that on PSN/XBLA. NBA Jam Tournament Edition in HD with online mutliplayer; I'd buy it. There'd probably be licensing issues with it though.

Capcom has finally offered a date for the Resident Evil 5 demo, though PlayStation 3 owners may be a bit miffed to learn that it's scheduled for an "exclusive premiere" on the Xbox 360.

Beginning January 26, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download a two-level playable demo of the game with three separate co-op options (player and CPU, two players local and two players over Xbox Live).

Capcom's official press release also promises a "new exclusive high-definition trailer of the game" for Xbox 360 owners beginning January 16. "New" seems to be a relative term however, as this trailer was previously seen at 2008's Tokyo Game Show.

Unsurprisingly, the Xbox-centric press release makes no mention of a PlayStation 3 demo, but presumably PS3 gamers will get their demo once the exclusive week is over.

THey had to allow that, other video sites were starting to do it. Youtube took a while in order to go HD though.

PS3 question...

This guy is sellin a 40 GB PS3 with 6 games and an extra controller with the HDMI cable for $400. I gotta take this deal.

My question is, how many songs do you think I could fit on a 40 GB? Of course Ill probably put some pics on there too, and Ill need space to save game files and stuff. I got ALOT of songs.

No, it has built in Wi-Fi

As far as getting another HDD is concerned, I picked up a 250 GB HDD for like $90 about 6 months ago, I'm sure you can get them cheaper now.

I have unlimited space, its nice.

yeah thats what i plan on doing. are you sure i can fit around 3,000 songs on a 40 GB?

And how do i transfer music from my computer to the PS3?

If you are still planing on gaming, some of the game installs can take up to 5Gb of space on the drive. Plan for that before you fill it up with music.

For shits and giggles lets say each song is on average 4 MB.

Well there are 1024 MB in each GB

1024 x 40 (GB) = 40960 MB

40960 / 4 (MB) = 10240 Songs

Sounds about right.

I have a shit load of music on mine, not anywhere near 3000 though.

If you hook it up to a surround sound, where you can have your TV off, but keep playing the music, it can make for some quite romantic evenings.

Once you are connected wirelessly you just need to open your computer up to share files. Pretty simple.

Go to your XMB (cross navigational bar...the row of icons that appears with the smoky wave when you start up your PS3). Go to SETTINGS (it's on the left)
and then

Internet settings

Then you can pretty much follow the menu form there. Select "wireless" and "easy" set up and "scan" for networks...

your home network should come up. THen you'll have to enter your WEP key. That's the 10-digit password. Mine is printed on a label on the bottom of he router.

etc. etc.

Everybody download this server, its ****ing awesome.

http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/

PS3 Media Server

PS3 Media Server is a DLNA compliant Upnp Media Server for the PS3, written in Java, with the purpose of streaming or transcoding any kind of media files, with minimum configuration. It's backed up with the powerful Mplayer/FFmpeg packages.
Current features

* Ready to launch and play. No codec packs to install. No folder configuration and pre-parsing or this kind of annoying thing. All your folders are directly browsed by the PS3, there's an automatic refresh also.
* Real-time video transcoding via MEncoder, tsMuxer or Avisynth
* DVD ISOs images / VIDEO_TS Folder transcoder
* OGG/FLAC/MPC/APE audio transcoding
* Thumbnail generation for Videos
* You can choose with a virtual folder system your audio/subtitle language on the PS3!
* All formats PS3 natively supports: MP3/WMA, JPG/PNG/GIF/TIFF, and all kind of videos (AVI, MP4, TS, M2TS, MPEG) the ps3 is willing to play
* ZIP/RAR files as browsable folders for pictures/audio files
* Preliminary support for pictures based feeds, such as Flickr and Picasaweb
* Preliminary Internet TV / Web Radio support with VLC, MEncoder or MPlayer

Windows Only:

* Lossless 5.1 PCM transcoding with DTS movies

007 01-26-2009 12:55 PM

PlayOn works fine for me. AND it does Netflix. Oh, and I can play any file I want on my PS3 directly from my computer without any secondary program to transcode it.

I don't think so.

That and Hulu are 2 big reasons to pay for PlayOn...assuming you have a Netflix account.

IMO, the PS3 Media Server is a lot smoother while playing videos. PlayOn is cool too though, I haven't dropped the $30 on it yet though.

goes up to $40 Feb 1st as it will be in official release then.

CBS full screen streaming is great on PlayOn as well.

Killzone 2 just got a 9.4 from ign
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/949/949161p1.html
I'm kinda shocked it didn't get a 10 for graphics.. this is easily the best looking console game to date... but not a system seller :)
Here is the summary:

9.5 Presentation
Everything from the first entrance onto the battlefield to the last cutscene creates a hectic, fun and fast-paced thrill ride through a warzone where each step you take could be your last.
9.5 Graphics
Phenomenal visuals prove that Guerrilla either met or surpassed that infamous E3 trailer. Some technical issues hold it back from being a completely flawless masterpiece.
9.0 Sound
7.1 channel sound captures every nuance of the battlefield from gunshots to screams along with a great soundtrack. Weakly delivered, curse-filled dialogue (sans Brian Cox) could've been done better.
9.0 Gameplay
You'll have to get used to the firearms as well as the AI on both sides. More turret and vehicle sections would've been great, but outside of that, the single-player campaign is fun to play through.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
Multiplayer is extremely deep and has the added bonus of an offline skirmish mode. This is where you'll spend the majority of your time once the credits roll.
9.4
Outstanding OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

kcxiv 01-29-2009 03:40 PM

Not bad for KZ2. I dont know if i am going to pick it up. I want too, but SF4 is a bigger priority for me. Plus i have to buy a damned arcade stick for it.

Buck 02-02-2009 11:05 AM

Does anyone know if you can hook 2 PS3s up to the same router and have them both work fine online?

I tried this once at a buddies house, and we could only get 1 PS3 to be NAT Type 2, while the other one was always NAT Type 3. However, we've had difficulty in the past hooking these 2 particular PS3s up while trying to play online...for some reason we could never be in the same party in COD4.

Anyways, I am moving in with 2 people, 1 of which has a PS3. He currently never goes online, but I am going to be buying a Wireless Router for the new place.

Do you think we will both be able to have full online capabilities from this one router?

aturnis 02-02-2009 11:52 AM

Plug one in with an Ethernet cable. Should solve the problem.

mikeyis4dcats. 02-02-2009 01:06 PM

I tried PS3 Media Server, but it was slow and buggy for me. I'll keep using Tversity.

I was in the PlayOn Beta, but I'm gonna hold out and see if Sony enables a better browser that will work with Hulu.

Not to call you out on your age or anything, but I just find those movies old and lame. They were probably good movies in your day, but I just cant get interested in them.

Out of all the movies they had, I think I found about 10 that I wanted to watch.

Heh. Actually, one of the things I love is the TV series they have there. I will be watching a ton of Simon and Simon. Magnum as well.

Just finished watching American Carol this afternoon. Not great but it made me laugh. Glad I got to see it.

One of the problems with their Play Now site is it is a bitch to navigate. That is something they need to work on.

Did everyone notice there is now a Resident Evil 5 demo available in the Playstation Store?

Damn, controls suck. Bad.

Out of all the movies they had, I think I found about 10 that I wanted to watch.

They have a pretty good selection right now which also includes many newer releases and a decent enough selection of lesser known good movies. It's kind of pain to navigate and sift though all of the junk.

Yeah, video game elitist. Gets old pretty fast. Not that he doesn't make a good point now and again.

Clunky, at best. It's like they took all the good from RE4's control scheme, threw it out because they wanted RE5 to feel and be as frustrating as RE1.

So, who's getting Killzone2 this week?

I'm really jonesing to play the MP once the servers open up.

I've been playing the MP maps against bots. There are so many customisable features in the MP modes.

So you have 2 extra copies? Care to Share so I don't have to put the last $55 + Tax on my reserve at gamestop?

TinyEvel 02-25-2009 01:47 PM

I would, dude, but my guys already got 'em.
