Well, that's not technically a steal, but it'll work

Well, props to Bloomquist. That right there is the kind of situation you can't measure with statistics, but it won the game.

for some reason, in the back of my mind I wondered if something would happen right then. I try to make an observation about the value of stealing third, and the baseball Gods apparently got annoyed.

No rapture, no pleasure, no exquisite send greater than a walk-off wild pitch.

CaliforniaChief 08-31-2010 09:46 PM

Not sure if this has been posted, but the Royals have announced that they are NOT calling up Moose in September. It's the front page of the Star.

I think I've listened to the Royals throw a walk-off wild pitch twice, but I think this is the first time I've heard the Royals win on one.

I'm fine with it. He's barely been in Omaha and his team is in a tight 3-way race to make the playoffs at the moment. Let him build confidence and win something while he can. If he comes roaring out of the gate next spring, then hopefully he'll be in KC by early June.

Kind of intresting that Royals/Rangers are playing each other and the Cardinals/Astros are playing each other.

Yeah, I'm impressed by the move. Bringing him up would probably boost attendance and build excitement, but they really seem committed to bringing him up on a realistic timeframe. Props to GMDM on the way he's being handled.

DeezNutz 08-31-2010 09:55 PM

GMDM can go **** himself.

This is more about service time than anything else. Personally, I believe it would be more beneficial to give Moose a small cup of coffee to acclimate him to a ML clubhouse so that the transition next year is more seamless.

If he kicks ass, we're going to have to pay him anyway. If that means we pay up a year early, be happy the player is worth paying in the first place.

Service time? Screw bringing him up, he's been in AAA for 2 months, and most of the first month was a struggle while he adjusted to AAA pitching. You bring him up now and he's more likely than not to scuffle for the last little bit of the season we have left and end the year on a down note.
