I like Southern Tier when they show restraint. But because they so rarely do so, I can't count them among my favorite breweries. Gimmicky disappointment after disappointment.

Yeah, it's like drinking a creme brulee... not much else to it, and it's so sweet, you forget you're drinking beer. It's fantastic. :D

Some of the more gimmicky beer I've tried was pretty much one and done (Rogues bacon beer comes to mind, which was kind of terrible), but I'd definitely buy that one again.

So, I've been gone to Houston the last couple of nights for a weekend getaway with the wife.

When we arrived home tonight there was a UPS package at my front door. Thanks to mikeyis4dcats, I now possess a bottle of Boulevard Chocolate Ale. He saw me asking around in this thread last week, and PM'd me about picking up a few bottles and sending them to me. He wasn't looking to make money. He just thought he had an oppurtunity to grab some and wanted to help me out. Well, I guess he wasn't able to get the bottles he thought he was going to get, because he messaged me again saying they sold out and that he wanted to send me his last bottle. I told him I didn't want to take his personal bottle, but he insisted that it was no issue. He packaged it up and sent it to a total stranger for no other reason than being a nice guy. It's gestures like this that make me happy to be a Chiefs fan and to be a part of this community. Thanks a ton, Mike. My wife and I really do appreciate it. Cheers.

Btw, I also got some other good beers while in Houston, I'll post those later though. Even got to try some Lagunitas Sucks on tap.

I know some folks have expressed some disappointment in this years batch or with just the chocolate ale overall, but I've really been itching to try it. So, regardless of whether it lives up to the hype or not, Mike did me a huge favor by going out of his way to get me a bottle.

It's a dick move. You're the equivalent of a ticket broker who buys tickets at face and sells them at huge markup to people who actually want to go to the show. Hope you don't complain when you're out $250 for those One Direction tickets you so dearly want.

That's not really a good comparison. Are the ticket brokers limited to 2 tickets per show? Because that's what the limit at almost every store was. I'm a dick for going to 3 stores but the person who was lazy and didn't bother trying now has to pay more for a product because of demand is the victim? Did you throw fits in your econ class?

TimBone 02-17-2014 12:42 AM

Perhaps you could have left it alone and let somebody who actually wants it go buy it directly from the store.

They had days to go and buy it. Why isn't there any crying in the tickets thread anytime someone sells tickets for more than face value?

It's still a dick move. Nobody is going to cry if you make some gas money on it. $5, 10, maybe even $15. But you're marking it up 400%. I personally don't think anybody paid $50 for a bottle anywhere but I punched each person who was asking $50 squarely in the nose metaphorically.

Mike has always been solid. Hope you enjoy your beverage. It's still good, not quite as good as 2 years ago. The chocolate is more subtle this year, seemed to me. But it's entirely possible that is the difference between tap and bottle though. In any case, very cool of Mike. Cool story, bra.

Days? Bottles sold out within a couple hours at several places around KC. Anyone who would spend $50 on a bottle of beer probably wasn't one of the lazy people who didn't try to find a bottle... they probably stood in line for a couple hours and didn't get one or else they have like a day job or something. So yeah, of course it's a dick move.

Stood in line? They could have called Berbiligas and gotten put on a reserve list. BTW its still on tap at places like Labodega and The Well. Will we be seeing you shaming people who are selling tickets for more than face value in the ticket section too?
