I wonder if Rampage was hurt or something because that was brutal.

ArrowheadHawk 02-26-2012 12:38 AM

Nice to see a new lightweight champ. Edgar is boring.

Buck 02-26-2012 12:45 AM

Edgar is not boring. Are you kidding? Have you even watched his fights?

Who does Bendo get next? Pettis? Rematch with Edgar?

In my opinion he is boring. Like 90% of his fights go the distance.

Frankie Edgar was involved in two of the most exciting fights in UFC history. He is far from boring... Ryan Bader on the other hand about put me to sleep.

Cosmetic damage means very little. However, effective striking was the difference due to the huge difference in the size of the fighters. Edgar needs to drop down at least one class for now.

JFC I really wish you would quit commenting on MMA.

The damage a guy has at the end of a fight has no bearing on winning or losing it. Lots of guys take 1-2 shots that do a ton of damage, but can dominate a fight. Frankie didn't dominate that fight, but he did enough to win. He outstruck and won the take down battle 7-2. And he was in fact that reigning champ, and to me a close decision should always go to the champion.

Second, Frankie is boring? OMG......I don't even know what to say. Lots of 155 guys don't finish fights. It doesn't make them boring fighters.

Ryan Bader was boring, as he decided he was too much of a pussy to go toe to toe with Rampage so he decided to do some good ol fashioned lay n pray.

Rampage had to know that was Baders game plan all along. I was surprised that Bader was able to take him down at will. He usually has solid take down defense

Frank Edgar is far from boring. Not having huge KO power does not equal boring.

Rampage had a knee injury. He's usually one of the best at stuffing takedowns but I'm sure that played a part. Bader was boring as ****.

I wonder how much longer he'll go? He should have some good fights left in him if he wants them. I was also surprised at the Akiyama fight, I thought he could have won it if he had been more agressive on his feet.

Actually Shields was the better stand up fighter in that one and I think he was probably a little worried about Shields putting him on his back. Did it look like Sexyama had spent some time in the tanning bed? There is something funny about a Japenese guy in a tanning bed.

That was my point, we've seen Akiyama go toe to toe with Leben and Belfort. Why was he so tentative with Shields? I suppose the threat of the takedown could be it but he lost anyway

It was a very tough fight to score and could have went either way, but these guys know a little more then I do.

Agreed. I've got Edgar either 3-2 or 4-1. Great fight though. RT @danawhite: No matter who wins this will be controversy!!!

— Dan Henderson (@danhendo) February 26, 2012
Wow. Even more controversial then I thought.Great fight, fans will def be asking for a rematch.

— Dan Henderson (@danhendo) February 26, 2012

Ok I don't say this ever, but that was the absolute worst decision I have EVER seen.

— Amir Sadollah (@amirMMA) February 26, 2012

Henderson is winning clearly "@danawhite: How do you guys have this fight scored right now???"

— juniorcigano (@junior_cigano) February 26, 2012

I think Frankie should have won...

— The Diamond (@DustinPoirier) February 26, 2012

Awesome fight @jakeshieldsajj .Great main event tonight. Thought Frankie won a close fight but Ben looked amazing out there. Thanks UFC

— Gilbert Melendez (@GilbertMelendez) February 26, 2012

Frankie Edgar is the real life Rocky Balboa!!

— Rashad Evans (@SugaRashadEvans) February 26, 2012

Ill give ben the fifth. We might have a new champion.

— Nam Phan (@NamPhanMMA) February 26, 2012

Wow!! Love Benson. It was a close fight but I had Frankie winning that fight.

— Kenny Florian (@kennyflorian) February 26, 2012
Henderson winning isn't necessarily the issue for me. Inconsistency of the judging is. Bendo is the champ & put on a sick performance!

— Kenny Florian (@kennyflorian) February 26, 2012

@kennyflorian I agree @FrankieEdgar was more busy striker and score more takedowns.. How the score that unanimous decision..

— Fabricio Camυes (@fabriciocamoes) February 26, 2012

I thought Frankie won @UFC

— Ken Stone (@K3nStone) February 26, 2012

I make a horrible judge!

— Duane Ludwig (@DUANEBANGCOM) February 26, 2012

Frankie won IMO.

— Yves Edwards (@thugjitsumaster) February 26, 2012

RT @jmercadoMMA: I'm getting sad.Frankie clearly won but people don't understand that visual damage is not apart of the scoring system

— Conor Heun (@ConorHeun) February 26, 2012

@IronMike333 I probably woulda had it a draw honestly 2 rounds Edgar, 2 rounds Benson & 1 rnd tied. SO close great fight

— Miesha Tate (@MieshaTate) February 26, 2012

I'm so inspired right now!! That fight was incredible !! Ben and Frankie are warriors . Thank u guys! #UFC144

— Joseph Benavidez (@JoeJitsu) February 26, 2012

It was a damn good fight. I feel Frankie definitely won it. Don't worry brother youll be back on top. Forget cutting weight 155 is your home

— Rad Martinez (@radmFTW) February 26, 2012

Ben Henderson is the most well rounded fighter in the world (wrestling, cardio, stand up,jiu jitsu, big 155) #UFC144

— Derek Brunson (@DerekBrunsonMMA) February 26, 2012

They're both winners in my book #UFC144

— Cub Swanson (@CubSwanson) February 26, 2012

I believe damage done needs to play a factor in judging a round. And I believe Benson Henderson did more damage in all rounds. #Champ

— Pat Schilling (@PatSchilling) February 26, 2012

BJ and Gray got immediate rematches in close fights with Frankie, so Frankie should at least get a rematch after that war I thought he won
