Infante has hit at a .670 OPS clip against lefties so he'd be a positive WAR player in that case. This basically platoons Infante/Dyson and keeps Dyson in the lineup against RHP where he is a big time WAR player between his fielding and baserunning.

See that's why I asked...didn't really know what exactly we'd have to give up to give him.

First off, Zobrist would be an every day player (as would Prado). Secondly, this is why I prefer Prado. If Glass opened up his checkbook, we could have Prado for free essentially.

Why would Beane think he could get that for Zobrist? He didn't even get that for Kazmir.

They have him for 2017 as well, plus a $2 mil buyout on his 2018 option. Essentially $17.75 mil for the next 2 years. No way they are getting rid of him unless they eat most of that deal.

I like these a lot. Prado isn't as good as Zobrist, but the utility and quality he can add really help.

I don't think Beane can get a Cueto level deal for Zobrist but I think he can get what he got for Kazmir for Zobrist. He's just got so much versatility and he's a plus bat.

It's the market this year. Lots of pitching available. Zobrist tops the list of bats and he plays infield. We aren't getting him. The Royals made the smarter move and gave up less to get an ace.

I think the Royals are also in denial about Infante.

if we can get Miami to eat 1/3 of his contract we can afford to eat 1/2 of Infante's contract (or the whole thing, if necessary) to move him or cut him loose next year

No, they just owe him a lot of money. Unfortunately, the Royals aren't the ****ing Dodgers who can throw a metric shit ton of money at everything and see if shit sticks. If it doesn't, they can just eat entire contracts and not give a single **** about it. The Dodgers literally never have any risk in anything they do. It's what I hate about baseball.

With our success and sellouts we can afford to eat Infante's entire contract if necessary ... but I'm thinking there is a team out there that would take him on as long as we ate 50% of his salary assuming we landed Prado.

Prado is the guy I want over Zobrist because he is a better defender and helps us in 2016, too
