Yep I post on my phone. That's why I can't embed tweets.

Might as well buy everything on the shelf - this is (and likely will remain) the best Royals team in most our our lives.

The Royals ability to remain a quality team AFTER 2017 was not dependent on Brandon Finnegan, Cody Reed, or John Lamb. Any of those guys could have been helpful pieces, but the Royals have enough SP prospects to recover from the loss of those three guys.
The Royals ability to remain quality is going to depend on their ability to fill things in around Sal Perez and Yordano Ventura. It's going to depend on getting good OF production from at least one of Brett Eibner, Bubba Starling and Jorge Bonifacio (I think the odds of that are much higher now than they were at the start of the season. Feel pretty comfortable at least one is a quality big-leaguer by 2017). It's going to depend on RA Mondesi being an established and above-average big league SS by that point (or 2B, if they decide to extend Escobar). It's going to depend on Ventura becoming a reliable starting pitcher, and at least two of the Royals current crop of starters becoming good MLB starters (Manaea, Zimmer, Almonte, Binford, Pedro Fernandez). Its going to depend on the Royals continuing to play to team strengths with strong defense and bullpen to help with run prevention. There are a lot of question marks, but we're also talking about three years down the road... |
Baseball n00b question:
Why did the Athletics tank after making their Lester last year? Something to do with clubhouse chemistry? Are the Royals in a similar dangerous position of losing that if we **** around too much with roster additions? |

Trying to predict three years out is an exercise in futility. Remember that Sal Perez wasn't even a highly touted prospect, so shit surprises.
