I'm tired of people saying Kila is done. He's batting like .210 after 75 abs. So what. Why do people flip their lid over a small sample size. I'm sure it's getting high enough to have a possible correlation but give the guy some time. Pretty sure Alex Gordon batted like .120 after 150 abs a few years ago and he's doing great now.

Anybody know any 75 ab chunks from good players last year that they bat .210 w/ a .315 obp. I bet there were quite a bit.

The problem isn't his average, it's his approach. Pitchers know exactly how to pitch him and the only time Kila gets a hit is if it's a mistake. I'll give him the fact that he'll walk, but that's only if the pitcher's breaking balls are way out of the zone.

Kila is about as easy of an out as there is in the league right now.

exactly he needs to figure something out he looks like Cerrano up there. It also doesn't help that you have C. Robinson batting .380 and Hosmer batting .408 in AAA

Minor Leagues today:

AAA

Suppan was destroyed, but no one cares.
Giavotella and Hosmer both had good games, with 2/3, 2BB; and 1/3, 2BB, 1K respectively.
Moustakas not so much, with a 1/5 (though that one hit drove in two runs, I guess)

After 86 AB, Hosmer is .407/.490/.535 with 5 doubles and a couple home runs. He's probably ready to roll.

Giavotella has decent OBP, but no power, Cain hasn't had many AB and Moustakas has been a mess. Those 3 all need to stay down.

After 5 starts and 27 innings, Montgomery has been solid with almost a K per inning, and after 4 starts Duffy has been freaking incredible with a microscopic ERA, WHIP, and 24 K's to only 4 walks. Duffy is probably not quite that good, but both he and Montgomery are close if not ready now.

On a side note, Kevin Pucetas has been a mild surprise from out of nowhere with good stats, 3 walks, and 14 K's, but he was never worth a damn in prior years. He might be a decent relief pitcher.

AA

no game

Adv. A

No one we care about was pitching.
Navarro went 0/3 with a walk.

I'm starting to think that Moustakas isn't going to see the majors this season. Hopefully Betemit can keep playing at a high level.

KChiefs1 05-01-2011 05:35 PM

Has it really been 17 years since the Royals swept the Twins in a series?????

my problem is mostly his body language, he gives it away that he is going to strike out, then he goes to the field and ****s easy plays up there as well. I thought they were going to make a move after he dropped a throw to him, but looks like they are sticking with him. i want him to bust out of it, but it doesn't even look like he is close.

Even if it takes Moose a while we should be fine with Aviles/Betemit as Utility players, especially if Getz can keep hitting a little bit. If Getz can't hit then Aviles at 2nd and Betemit at 3rd and we need a utility player. \

Then again Moose could break out of it and be up by July.

Demonpenz 05-01-2011 07:41 PM

move Ryan shealy to first and Dh Desi Reliford

It's because we live in a world of wanting immediate gratification in sports (and pretty much everything) and other than a handful of people on here that are actually knowledgeable about baseball, there's a lot of football fans that don't get baseball. That's fine but I agree it's annoying. Just my opinion.

tk13 05-01-2011 07:47 PM

Well it depends on the person. I'm not quite ready yet to throw in the towel yet, because Kila has been really slow to adjust at every level.

Sure-Oz 05-01-2011 07:48 PM

It seems he should just keep playing until the AS break when i assume Hosmer comes up

No. It's because we have a guy in the minors who just won the triple crown, and he's not even close to being our best 1B prospect.

Kila is out of options so he's going to get a chance for as long as the team feels there's still an opportunity for him. That may not make fans happy but we aren't the one's spending the money and putting our jobs on the line every day. We're (fans) impatient, the team isn't. They didn't expect to be 2games over .500 and in 2nd place right now I'd bet either, but they are... so guys who are struggling will get even more of a chance to turn it around.

Hosmer and company will still be there when the team decides it's time to go that direction. I really doubt they figure they're going to be in the hunt for a playoff spot not matter who's playing first at the end of the season. If they are then fantastic, the future will likely look even brighter then. For now they have their reasons to be patient and fans have their reasons to be fans i.e. impatient.
