Infante plays every day because we have no other option at 2nd base (as opposed to having 5 OF's and Moose missing 10 games or so because of family issues) so, because of plate appearances, he's our #6 hitter.

Yeah I don't know about the contract situations of the two guys, but if you get Prado for NEXT year too, then that is clearly the better option. If Zobrist is a rental, then quite frankly I really don't want him unless it only costs us Bubba Starling or something.

we're 21 games over .500, running away with the division, and adding key pieces

the only thing that matters is our 25 man playoff roster at this point

is Guthrie going to start game 2 of the playoffs? Will Guthrie even start (I highly doubt it). Hell, Guthrie might not even be on the postseason roster.

Is Infante going to bat 6th in a playoff game? Will Infante even start? Hell, Infante might not even be on the postseason roster.

Zobrist is 34. He might be a guy we could resign for something like 3 years, $40M. I'm not sure I'd want to do that, though.

Aces don't matter. Guthrie is #2 because of IP. The # batter you are in the order is determined by plate appearances.

I used to think just like you and had the same initial resistance when i found Baseball Prospectus, FG Etc. It'll eventuall click for you that all starts during a week have the same value as do all AB in a lineup....and you're not valuable when you're not playing.
