Every team loses players in college ball. It's the nature of the game. "Making noise" doesn't exactly mean 25-2 either.

What is "making noise" in the SEC mean?

I think of it as 'competing for the conference title'.

Kentucky has a payroll even higher than KU ;), so expecting to finish above them would be a pipe dream, but a top 3 finish in the SEC would be making a splash.

UK will always be tough, but there's no reason to believe that they can't compete for the top 2 or 3 spots in the SEC next year.

We're bringing back three of our five best players. The Tigers should be a top three team in the SEC next season, maybe top two.

tOSU's loss pretty well eliminates them from teams we have to worry about getting a top seed ahead of us.
