I'm buying for .280/12/70 this season with upside of .290/20/90 in the future.

Move Gordon to the 2 hole, which would be perfect for the above lines.

This isn't really significant, except that he is a complete moron, and I hate him.

Yeah, no. We need to be looking long term and, fortunately, Dayton knows this.

No shit. We are so loaded with starting pitching for the future its crazzy. I'm still behind Hochevar. Crowe could be an excellent starter if he polishes his change-up. Mazzaro, Montgomery, Lamb, Duffy, Dwyer, and Odorizzi are all lined up. Hell, the guy from Latin America who's name escapes me is even looking legit. This division could belong to Cleveland and KC for the next decade.

Does anyone know why Kyle Davies is still on the major league roster?

It really wouldn't be surprising to see Mazarro (sp?) take his next start.

Yeah, I see absolutely no reason why he shouldn't. How many horrible, horrible games does Davies have to have to convince this team he is not the right man for the job?

Anyone care to take a stab at our opening day lineup and starting 5?

I'd love to see:
Cain
Gordon
Hosmer
Butler
Francouer
Betemit
Aviles
Pena
Escobar

Hochevar
Montgomery
Lamb
Duffy
Mazzaro

That Cuban defector? Noel A. Arguelles - building up stamina at Wilmington after shoulder surgery killed his first season in the Royals' system. Got his first career win last week...

What's really exciting about Arguelles is that he is dominating despite the fact his velocity has still not come back yet. As he continues to pitch into the summer, his velo should come back into form, and he could fly up prospect charts.

Staying in Wilmington, Odorizzi is just killing it so far. 30 K and 4 BB in 20 IP. I think there's a great chance he could end up being the true jewel in the Greinke trade.

Jake has been DOMINANT! Exciting prospect.

yeah, forget blockbuster trades, I'm not giving up 2012 and 2013 to go for broke now.

That said, if we are still in this thing in the beginning of June, then DM needs to seriously think about bringing up some guys from AAA earlier than he may have planned for. If they struggle, fine, thats what we have options for, but if there's an outside chance we could compete then lets see if Hosmer, Cain, Montgomery, Duffy, and maybe Moose can carry us over the finish line.

alnorth 05-02-2011 12:41 PM

Sounds like Dyson's injury was minor. Its just an ankle sprain, and he won't even need to go on the DL. He might be ready to go tomorrow or wednesday.

I kind of expect a few of them to get the call in June. Does anyone know what the “service time” date is? I’ve only heard “June”.

It would be great to have the kids come up in a legit race – avoid the typical empty stadiums and universal apathy that comes with late summer in KC.
