That would require my computer to have an HDMI output.

We have an ancient Dell XPS 420.

I see. I doubt you're wanting to spend a couple hundred bucks, but you can line up a cheap laptop with HDMI for a couple hundo.

Just FYI this works with redtube...so I've heard

If I felt capable of figuring it all out, I'd probably just cut the cord completely and go the XBMC route. Sounds like you can get pretty much anything you want, including sports.

I may have to pay for Fish to come to STL and set me up. :D

Hmmm, I need an excuse to go to ST Louis.

You too, eh? :)

For the right beer, that could happen. :thumb:

Can't you just hook your computer to the TV through HDMI?

This to me was a better $30 investment.

Word to the wise - that keyboard sucks balls. Look how tiny and out of place that right shift key is. It's a nightmare to type on.

Hell, name your price. Could probably get some ball tickets if you wanted to go to a game while you were here.

If you're serious, shoot me a text. Going to call DTV again tonight and if they won't budge, I'm setting a disconnect date for mid-September.

It's fine. I'm not composing massive prose here.

Besides, "netflix.com", "hbogo.com", "amazon.com" don't need the shift key.

I have two of these already which I use fine and think are great. I'm trying to set up a third one but during the setup it goes into the update and is stuck at 0% for hours. I've tried resetting the chromecast, using the HDMI extender, the power supply, resetting my modem my router...I think I've tried everything. Anybody seen this before and found a fix?

I'm using the hell of our the chromecast these days. I purchased the all cast app which, in conjunction with an app called showbox, let's me stream episodes onto my TV. Between Netflix and showbox I am set for TV.

Another vote for AllCast - well worth the few bucks to be able to cast just about anything.

I just wish that Amazon and Spotify would stop being assholes and make their apps Chromecast compatible.

i have one, it works ****ing awesome for just general surfing and web browsing, i dont try to use it for anything other then that.

Yep, I use Showbox and AllCast as well. The free version of Allcast though. Haven't even looked into the paid version. I probably should, I have Amazon coins to spend.

Shaid 02-09-2015 09:13 PM

I'm actually up to 6 chromecasts now, I have one for every TV in the house but one. Kids want to watch a show on netflix, pull out the phone and turn on a movie in one of their rooms. I have Plex and Showbox for lots or other movies and shows. I even have a chromecast on my smart tv because it works better than the apps on the TV. I'm all in on these little things. They still have some improvement to do with the browser casting but the app support is really nice at this point.
