No team is going to take McClain as a RB only. He has never been a RB only. He is a very good FB that is a dependable ball carrier much like T-Rich or Tolbert.

Any team that takes him, is taking him as a FB first and a secondary ball carrier/short yardage guy. You can still get well over 100 carriers being that guy.

Dude had 232 carries and 10 TD's in 2008. He's more than capable of stepping into Thomas Jones' role.
