Somebody needs to spell this out for me:
1. Can Carr sign with any team prior to March 13th? 2. Can the Chiefs sign Carr during this three-month layover? |

Do the Chiefs get a three-month window of exclusive conversations? |

If Carr signs elsewhere, it will be because somebody significantly overpaid during a timescale when we literally can't sign him till March. Saying we haven't re-signed our own free agents is simply not true. DJ Flowers Hali Succop Charles |
Maybe we can get Bowe signed in three months, and stamp the franchise tag on Carr...

We don't want to pay Carr that much.

*Technically, these are the right answers, but there's always tampering. |
There is simply no excuse not to re-sign Carr. As much as I bitch about us never being active in free agency, I'll still be somewhat happy as long as we re-sign our own guys. There is simply no excuse for having one of the lowest payrolls year after year if you won't sign your own homegrown talent. As far as I'm concerned I'll be happy with avoiding high priced free agents if it means signing our own guys.
Of course, Pioli had better pull his head out of his ass this year and realize we need free agency to add depth to this team. |
if he hits FA we will lose any bidding war with any larger market so....

Brandon Carr will make a lot of $$ this offseason. Consistent, above-average starting CB. Only 26. |
I would understand not giving him 50 million, but we need to get him resigned $35-$40 million range seems about right.
Carr, Flowers, Berry, Lewis could be the best defensive backfield in the NFL as soon as next year. |

If we lose him or Bowe without getting something in return, I'll pretty much lose what little faith I have left and realize this franchise isn't going to ever pursue a championship.
