How would you like to get drafted by the Royals? Short of being a Catcher, I don't know when you would ever get a chance. The team literally appears to have 8 position players, 5+ starters, and a closer in place for the foreseeable future.

That said, if we are still in this thing in the beginning of June, then DM needs to seriously think about bringing up some guys from AAA earlier than he may have planned for. If they struggle, fine, thats what we have options for, but if there's an outside chance we could compete then lets see if Hosmer, Cain, Montgomery, Duffy, and maybe Moose can carry us over the finish line.

Agreed. We can pull off massive "trades" with our minor leagues if we need talent. How cool is that?

It would be great to have the kids come up in a legit race – avoid the typical empty stadiums and universal apathy that comes with late summer in KC.

Date to get an extra year: about 2.5 weeks in the season, that is long since passed.

Date to avoid arbitration in the 3rd year and maybe save a bit of money: unknown, but usually after the all-star break to be safe.

All we're talking about is some money a couple years from now. Since they didn't make the opening day roster and weren't immediately called up, no one is going to accumulate a full year of service in 2011 even if they are called up right now.

The Royals have so much talent coming up, there's really only one way they can mess this up: trading the wrong guys while being too aggressive trading minor leaguers for established big leaguers.

Look at Arizona. They traded Carlos Gonzalez and Carlos Quentin (and Brett Anderson and Gio Gonzalez) trying to compete now. Oops.

Fescoe is a moron if he wants to trade any of the legitimate prospects (Montgomery, lamb, crow, Duffy, Dwyer, hosmer, moose, colon, odorizzi, eibner, arguelles) unless it is for a game changer like King Felix and the price isnt too exorbitant.

Where's he going to play? The guy is a freak, but he's going to have to earn everything he gets if we draft him.

Gordon's got the look of a guy who can play LF for 8 years. Is he going to play CF over Cain? How about RF over Myers? Its fun to think about having a logjam at every position.

He'll be a center fielder at the next level, with the potential for plus power, which Cain doesn't possess. He's a very unusual prospect, and it would be foolish for us to pass on him.

Far too much upside.

I'd love to draft. I certainly wasn't trying to take a swipe at him by suggesting that he would have his work cut out for him. Cain hasn't shown that he is our next Willie Wilson, but its nice to dream. After Catcher, CF is likely our biggest question mark (assuming that Colon moves to 2B).

Agreed, Saul.

According to the Royals Website the 5/14 game will be televised by MLB network. (Assuming that you can find where Time Warner has it by then).

Pujols is batting .240 after 110 abs. They should send him to the minors with Kila!

Pujols the ****ing best player in the game, Kila has no track record except batting .210 in the majors

Anyone see this article on Royals advanced scouting? It's pretty cool.

spreadsheet updated.

Obviously I was confused because I thought Kila was out of options. After this season, he definitely will be.

After a bit of quick research I found that we exposed Kila to the 2008 rule V draft and he was not picked, so we were able to keep him in the minors for a 6th year and an option was never used in 2008. That should tell you that the spreadsheet is just a best guess and might not be accurate.

Why didn't you tell me this BEFORE I had the OP tattooed onto my chest?
