Have tickets for August 8, 9, and 10 in KC here. I have a 3/5 chance.

Which means I have no chance. LMAO

Right. And over the course of the year Jeremy Guthrie has a 5.2+ ERA to Chris Young's 3.3.

Over that same time span, Chris Young has a 4.64 ERA and Guthrie is at 4.25. Both not great but one has improved and the other is in a tail spin.

Chris Young needs a break from starting.

Hootie 07-27-2015 02:42 PM

I don't really care if it is Guthrie or Young. We just need a #5 who can eat innings ... neither of these guys are going to be starting in the postseason.

Hootie 07-27-2015 02:42 PM

hell ... every 5th day give Guthrie the first 5 and Young the last 4 for all I care.

It's definitely a douche and a turd sandwich argument. I'd still leave Guthrie in the rotation.

ChiefsCountry 07-27-2015 02:47 PM

Prison Bitch and COMO hate Guthrie. Should be pretty obvious who the choice should be for the #5 spot in the rotation.

C3HIEF3S 07-27-2015 02:47 PM

Guthrie because he has proven to be an innings eater. Young's total season results have been better, but anyone who watches the games should clearly be able to see how much he has fallen over his last 6-7 starts. There's a reason that Young was contacted by one team over the off-season and we are seeing why. He will fit back nicely into the long relief spot, while Blanton gets the boot.

Well, there's this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Chris Young
1st 8 starts - 2.11 ERA with 3 home runs
last 7 starts- 5.50 ERA with 10 home runs

It appears to be a trend rather than happenstance.

Molitoth 07-27-2015 02:59 PM

Shouldn't the 5th spot just go to whomever is the "hottest" at the time?

Don't you guys see what PB is doing? 95% of the stupid and outrageous things he posts are things he really believes. This crap is among the 5% that he doesn't really believe, but by mixing in some obvious trolling, he can make the argument later on that he has been joking about EVERYTHING, all along.

Young needs to rest up for October.

Bufkin 07-27-2015 03:01 PM

Would really like to see Medlen bounce back so he can enter in the rotation at some point. That gives you Cueto, Volquez, Ventura, Duffy, and Medlen. Young is a solid long reliever, and Guthrie can be 5th starter insurance. Guthrie is one of my all-time favorite Royals, but he's finished.

Unless something strange happens it will either be the 10th or 11th.
