None. I second the motion. All in favor?

not really. He's 27, one of the worst starters in baseball, and has had tons and tons of opportunity.

I figured if any of us Royals fans on here would object, it would be you. If you've given up on him, he's doomed!

Good riddance Davies!

Hadn't really thought of cutting him before until I looked up his stats just now. yeesh, he's been a major leaguer for a long time and has been either bad or awful every single year.

He's done, unless we wanna see if he can come back as a reliever but at this point I'd ask him to prove he can pitch in Omaha for half a season or a full year, one inning at a time. He's out of options, but I don't think he'd be claimed on waivers.

Let the events of the last 24 hours serve as a reality check whenever any of us begins to think our pitching depth is just fine.

We lost two starters, potentially killing the career of one that had promise, and are forced to bring up two rookies probably earlier than expected.

If Chen is out longer than expected, our rotation is going to be in serious trouble.

Hopefully someone takes him off our hands/books.

Duffy is really, really going to have to suck to be worse than Mazzaro and Davies. It's damn near next to impossible. I'm still against bringing him up this early, because this team is going to get last. I actually do worry about how long we can have these guys on the Royals, because it's so hard to keep players once they become good in the small market.

I'd like to see if he can bump his fastball into the mid 90s when throwing out of the pen. If so, you might be able to milk some success out of him. His starting days should be over.

I don't want to divert this thread and/or rain on any parades, but I'll just leave you with this nugget: In 2005, Kyle Davies was the 53rd best prospect in the sport according to Baseball America.

I hope like hell Duffy is awesome, but the attrition rate of pitching prospects is high. We need to continue adding numerous prospects like Duffy and Montgomery every year, rather than be content with what we have.

Player control is not an issue here.

we've got his extra year already, and there's no way he wont be up by the end of the year, much less May of next year.

So, we're only talking a little money in his 3rd year. If he's ready (questionable) and/or we are desperate (yes, we're out of starters, we got little choice), then bring him or Montgomery up.

DeezNutz 05-17-2011 01:52 PM

The only thing potentially worse than Mazzaro's on-field performance was his post-game interview.

Though DeJesus was not exactly a world beater, this has the potential to be one of the worst trades in Royals history. Not Dye-level bad, but still pretty ****ing bad.

For those interested, here is a nice scouting report on Duffy I dug up from last fall.

I wish we were playing the Mariners instead of the Rangers tomorrow.

Royals plan to have RHP Nate Adcock join the rotation and start Saturday against the Cardinals.

Did Arguelles only pitch 4 innings last night due to pitch count or something else?
