Vikings agree to terms with ten undrafted free agents

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 24, 2010 8:55 PM ET
We won't pass along all 300+ undrafted free agent signings because they aren't all interesting.

But when a team is nice enough to group all their undrafted free agents in one big group, we'd be selfish not to pass that list along. So here goes.

The Vikings agreed to terms with ten undrafted free agents, according to Judd Zuldad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

Quarterback R.J. Archer of William & Mary, wide receiver Ray Small of Ohio State, guard Thomas Austin, Clemson; tackle Matt Hanson, Midwestern State; center Tommy Hernandez, UC-Davis, wide receiver Aaron Rhea, Stephen F. Austin; strong safety Terrell Skinner, Maryland; wideout Kelton Tindal, Newberry; cornerback Angelo Williams, Ferris St; tackle Marlon Winn, Texas Tech.

From Consensus Draft Services

Michael Johnson

School
North Alabama
Height
6 ' 3.0 "
Weight
254 lbs.
Speed
4.75 ( Unofficial )

Strengths
Instinctual. Big and tough. Makes plays in both the run game and the pass game. Has hands for the pick. Comes with bad intentions and drives running backs to the ground. Laudable physicals. Intense, competitive, and hungry. Good kid who will work

Weaknesses
LOC. A little stiff and straight-linish. May not get a shot because of where he played. May lack some football IQ and may have a learning curve.

Projection
Smash-mouth football player who is far better than where he is likely to be drafted. 3-4th round talent who may actually go undrafted.

In Alabama, you might get approached for a threesome.

And if you're wondering, yes, I have watched multiple North Alabama games. I've even seen Mike Johnson play in person.

LMAO No.

I'll say this much: I can see why a team would pick him up. He was the D2football.com/D2 Magazine defensive player of the year last year. But lot's of D2 players of the year aren't NFL players.

I'm so ****ing tired that I thought GoChiefs posted this.

My bad, Deez.

If the Rat's still running the one cut RB he missed out.

Surprised he didn't try to pick up LeGarrette Blount. He's one of those runners & he has the checkered past. The Rat never shied away from those. IMO that got him fired.

Menelik Holt, WR, Nebraska

No clue why. Very little production. I didn't see anything on injuries. Billay? Got anything on this guy?

chiefsfanintx 04-24-2010 09:38 PM

WR Menelik Holt/Nebraska to the Chiefs

I bet every FA signed by the Chiefs has strengths that will say good kid, intense, competitve & hungry in them because I truly believe that's the type of players the Chiefs targeted in this draft.
