Soren Petro was talking to a radio guy in the SEC this morning and the overwhelming majority of SEC fans don't want A&M, for what that's worth. Their opinion is "what's the point?" |

KU would probably need to hope for a soft landing in the Big 10. They're still a solid B-Ball conference. If it comes down to $$ (i.e. televisions, etc...); KU could be in some trouble. Mens college ball just doesn't have the national appeal that football does. If KU's football program had the national strength that their BBall team does, this wouldn't even be a discussion (hell, they'd have gone with NE), but basketball just doesn't carry the weight. |

This is why I can't realistically see the 16 team super conferences that everyone talks about. The conferences that actually have a good thing going are going to be very wary about bringing another dog in to eat out of their food bowl. |

Also if super conferences happen Pitt and ND will leave for greener pastures. |

I wasn't speaking to what would likely happen, but what they should probably hope for. Things will get very scary very quickly for the local squads. It shouldn't get too spooky for Iowa St (they're essentially ****ed, might as well accept it), and it may not be quite as dire for MU as it is for KU and K-St, but it's going to be a very nervous few months for all of them. |
