Cam lacks the mental toughness during and after a loss. The level of frustration and inappropriate pouting -- or hiding his head under a towel on the sidelines has taken a toll on his teammates.

In an interview with The Charlotte Observer, Steve Smith scolded him for his attitude and lack of leadership on and off the field. Others on the team accused him of being negative in the huddle and during practice.

According to The Charlotte Observer during an interview with his parents, they said this was an issue as far back as they could remember.

Cam's disrespect toward the media or not speaking with the media has added fuel to the fire.

the irony and hypocrisy of Steve Smith scolding people

Steve Smith was fighting teammates when the Panthers were a playoff contender and had an NFC championship window and were winning every year. Steve Smith was a cancer. Just because he got old and mature doesnt mean hes some ****ing saving grace or Cam Newton has to listen to a hypocrite.

TheGuardian 02-18-2013 10:54 AM

Or maybe Smith matured and understands how important it is to longer be that way?

People do change.

Cam is such a shitty leader that he only put his entire team on his back and carried them to a National Championship.

I need a leader like Tim Tebow. Imagine if you paired Tebow and Thomas Jones. I'm getting a "right 53" boner just thinking about it.

Ryan Leaf took a team to the ****ing rose bowl too.

What he did in college is completely irrelevant at this point. Lots of shitty leaders perform well in college because of athletic ability.

Thanks for proving jack and shit, and jack left town.

But Geno hasn't been drafted and proven to be a lousy leader yet. I'm not sure why the 2 keep getting compared.

If it comes out that Geno has similar problems, I will come off my desire for us to draft him. Those things do matter.

When, exactly, did Ryan Leaf shatter records in the NFL?

Ryan Leaf had 3793 total yards in his career to go along with 14 total TDs and 36 INTs.

In his rookie year alone, Newton had 4754 total yards, 35 TDs, and 17 INTs.

The best season by a QB in Chiefs history was 4676 yards, 27 TDs, and 17 TDs.

The worst season Newton has had in his career would be the best season by a Chiefs QB in history...and he's still only 23 ****ing years old.

Really, though, we would be better off drafting a guy who most "experts" rate as a second round talent and has a history of pouting on the sideline with that pick than getting Newton.

Good job, good effort.

You're also comparing apples to oranges in terms of the NFL from Leaf's time until now. Rookie QB's can come in now, and win pretty quickly. The league has changed to make it that way.

You also moved the goalposts. You started with the fact that Newton was a leader because of what he did at Auburn, but in the NFL he has been a complete headcase diva. Then you start talking about his NFL stats. Also leaving out the fact that he has an average QB rating and completion percentage. These two things far outweigh passing yards and rushing yards.

Just stop. please.

Newton was third in yards per attempt last year. Peyton Manning had 7.99, Newton had 7.98, and Aaron Rodgers had 7.78. Only idiots give a shit about QB rating, but he was in the top half of the league there, too.

As for him being a "diva" goes, he can dress like a showgirl and smear shit on the goalposts for all I care if he gets us 4700 yards and 35 TDs with 12 INTs.

Saul Good 02-18-2013 01:32 PM

Says:

"Passing and rushing yards don't mean shit."

Then says:

"Check out his QB rating"

And

"He's a diva."

Good old Guardian...don't ever change.

mcaj22 02-18-2013 01:33 PM

people on the Panthers are mad at him and offended at him because he came out and threw the entire team under the bus in the middle of the season and basically said there is dog shit talent on the team and a lot of overpaid players not living up to their contracts

and sadly he was right. If that makes him a diva that's fine, but hes putting up stats with awful talent and he and anyone that follows football with a brain knows it

Not even going to read the rest of the replies after this. You pretty much destroyed every argument being made in this thread.

How many wins did that get the Panthers?
