Take a pill dude. Seriously. |
I think the real problem is having Bryan Augenstein mentioned in the OP.
And his last name being misspelled. |
Man if we still had Waino this staff would be tits. Crazy that Carp is the weak link right now.

He's had a few starts where he's gotten little run support. |

Jaime FTW. |

I don't think he's been as bad as Westbrook(He has turned it around lately, though), but he certainly hasn't been as well as Jaime, Lohse or K-Mac. That's pretty incredible that a guy who sucked the past two seasons and a guy who was a RP in the bigs have been two of the Cards best SPs... |
Quote:
He is struggling at times though. His screaming at opposing players over little shit is getting odd. |
Quote:
And didn't he pitch a good game in Atlanta, no? The bullpen blew a few leads. |
Quote:
I know he is intense but he is starting to let his emotions get in the way. JMO Edit: He is still one of my all-time favorite Cards. |

Shit, I wouldn't even turn it on - I don't seem to be very good luck when I watch games this year. :(

i know they're starting off pretty mediocre, and then you add in all the injuries, but there is still a pretty decent chance at going post season

Lohse pitched well again, but Gallardo was the better man today.

ROFL at the folks giving Marcellus a hard time over the "jinx". You guys really believe in that crap?

Go back to fapping to pictures of your mother, your mind numbing insults can be found in a basic google search. You have nothing to add to this board, your and idiot. Your birth certificate was an apology from the condom factory. And my personal favorite (the skip insult) - you don't have enough posts on this board to have a viable opinion yet. |
I heard you guys might need a closer?
We'll give you Bell for one major league bat and two good prospects. What can you give me? |

That was the very first clue from Moe that he was truly in over his head. Everytime we played the Padres and Greene came up, I know the rally was over if we just pumped him some high gas. Moe not only traded for the man, but he absorded a $6 million contract and gave up a kid that turned out to be one of the best setup men in baseball in the process. And I think I might prefer Mike Adams over Heath Bell, both in terms of cost ($ and prospects) and ability. |

Mark Worrell(RP you got in the Khalil Greene traded that wasn't Gregerson who hit a HR in his first AB). |
Screw that we don't need to give up Sanchez, rasmus or miller for a rent a reliever.

The Cardinal fans in here don't usually have arguments. Most if not all the fans in here are on the same page, have basically the same opinion on the lineup, Larusssa, Franklin etc. about the only thing we have disagreed on was the Pujols contract. We usually end up in here just venting and agreeing about some boneheaded Larussa line up or some bothed Mo trade. |
Cardinals prospect Carlos Martinez was every bit as good as advertised in his U.S. debut on Saturday night.
The 19-year-old right-hander retired the first 10 batters he faced and struck out six over four hitless innings as the Quad Cities River Bandits blanked the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 1-0. "It all came out like I had dreamed it would," Martinez said through a translator. "After the first inning, it was just, 'Wow.' "I don't want to say I was nervous, but I was just trying to feel myself. It was very emotional." A native of the Dominican Republic, Martinez was perfect for the Cardinals' Class A affiliate the first time through the order, fanning two batters in each of the opening three frames. T.J. Mittelstaedt drew a one-out walk in the fourth to give the Timber Rattlers their first baserunner, but Martinez got Cody Hawn and Michael Walker to fly out to keep the game scoreless. The 6-foot flamethrower threw 30 of 52 pitches for strikes before turning things over to the River Bandits bullpen. "I still want to get better with my command, especially on my fastball," Martinez said. "I want to work really hard." River Bandits manager Johnny Rodriguez said the non-drafted free agent already has the makeup to be a star. "I've been in baseball more than 30 years and he could be a No. 1 guy in St. Louis," Rodriguez said. "He was better than I had expected. "He reminds me of when I saw a young Pedro Martinez in Albuquerque in the early '90s. In fact, he shows me more than what Pedro did at his age, and you know how his career went." The Cardinals signed Martinez last April and he promptly led the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League with a 0.76 ERA in 12 starts. He went 3-2 with 78 strikeouts over 59 innings. Martinez, who reportedly received a $1.5 million signing bonus, impressed the Cardinals' front office during a mini-camp bullpen session in Jupiter, Fla., prior to the start of Spring Training in February. The velocity and life of his fastball drew a lot of attention, but Rodriguez was equally impressed with his off-speed pitches Saturday. "His fastball was thrown at 97 to 99 mph and it exploded off the plate, but his curveball fell right off the table," he said. "That was what was so impressive, the spin on his breaking ball and the action on his changeup. "In the last four or five years, his curveball was the best I have seen from such a young arm. They had five or six left-handed hitters in their lineup and still had no chance of hitting him. His mound presence was off the charts and his command was perfect." Southpaw Kevin Siegrist (4-1) tossed five shutout innings in relief of Martinez, losing the no-hit bid with two outs in the seventh when Chris Dennis singled to right field. Siegrist allowed one more hit, walked two and struck out two. Oscar Taveras gave the River Bandits the lead with a one-out RBI single in the eighth. The slim lead held up as Quad Cities posted back-to-back wins for the first time in two weeks. Ashley Marshall is a contributor to MLB.com. Big week this week, on the road against the Cubs and then the Reds. Time to take control of this division. |
early 1-0 lead

Carp does not look the same. I don't care if he has had 5 "quality" starts or not. He looks like shit and has most games.
It's like he is forcing the ball rather than throwing it. |

Thats BS with Westbrook. Your a 33 year old veteran. You should know if you are ready to go after the rain delay. You obviously wern't, not even close. How could you not know?
|
And Franklin continues to suck.
|
Franklin has now given up as many earned runs (13) as he did in 61 innings in 2009.

Last offseason I had a chance to chat with them during an off moment and I told WW that I thought he got screwed in the CY voting. He said the standard "Well, Tim's a hell of a pitcher" kind of stuff. I said I think it was just bad luck, Carpenter was too good and they ended up splitting the vote. WW responded by saying "well, I'll have my work cut out for me this season, I'm going to have 4 other great pitchers I'll have to split the vote with this year". Lohse looks at him, doesn't miss a beat, and completely deadpans "oh...well I guess I'd better go tell the bullpen you think they all suck..." Wainwright cracked up. During BP one day, WW blasted 3 long HRs and 2 popups. When he got done, the crowd behind the plate started cheering and he took a big ol' exaggerated bow. Lohse stepped in next and smoked 5 liners right up the box...crickets. So Lohse steps out for a minute and yells "Oh c'mon! That was 5 for 5!" and throws his hands up. The crowd obviously gave him his applause at that point. It really sucked to see Lohse struggle so badly because he's a very nice guy and I hated seeing him fail like that. His body language on the mound blows, but his teammates love him and of all the guys on the team to go have a beer with, him, WW and McClellan are 1-3 on my list (Kyle Mac because he pet the service dog we were training at the time). Ryan Franklin, OTOH, is an incredible douche. Lohse being a cutup has nothing to do with Moe and everything to do with Lohse simply being healthy again. |
