Set up with Project X PXi's in my irons, another huge difference over my old C-Tapers. Been a tough summer, haven't played as much as I normally do - should be getting into single digits soon. |

Should be getting to single digits next year thanks to a driver fitting. |

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good golf instructor with launch monitor with indoor/outdoor facility that is reasonable around the Lee's Summit area?

I played 18 yesterday and really struggled on the front, scoring a 55. Really started hitting my irons well on the back for a 44. Could have been much better but I went triple bogey, par, double bogey on the last 3 holes. |

If they have a launch monitor for club fitting, they can use it for lessons. For example, you can use it to determine face angle and swing path, and you can see if your spin rates are optimal for your approach shots (approximately 1000 rpm per iron). |

I finally broke down and bought a Trackman. Excited to see how it works out, can't play this week though.course is closed

I work right up the road from Robin Nigro and use their range occasionally. Which instructor are you using? I know they run ~$95 per hour session which is pretty pricey. They have a launch monitor inside and have a trackman for outdoor also. Surprised they didn't utilize them with your lesson. |

One thing I need to work on now is with the grip and swing change he implemented, I'm suddenly slicing my drives a considerable amount. Yesterday I did not mishit a single drive, but I was consistently slicing them. It was manageable for the most part, but I generally drove the ball pretty straight before the changes. I really need to get that fixed. I'm going to be playing two, maybe three rounds at TPC Las Vegas next month and I'm pretty sure it will be much easier if I'm in or near the fairway. |

A nasty slice is my problem, which I know is from leaving face wide open but can't get a feel of closing the face correctly. I've been watching too many youtube videos and books, trying to change too many things at once and would rather go to an instructor to have them straighten me out a bit so I'm on the right path. That's where I'd like to have a launch monitor there for the lesson so I can see what I'm actually doing with my club path and face direction vs. what I feel. |
Quote:
A traditional slice, which 90% of all golfers have, comes from a swing path that is out to in (in baseball parlance for a righty, swinging to left field) with an open clubface. A push-slice comes from an inside-to-out path. Both are compensations due to errors earlier in the swing, but a push slice can be fixed with a better release. Most golfers are terrified of actually releasing the clubhead, IMO due to the nature of short game instruction, which too often promotes a block release. |

It's certainly something any instructor worth their salt can fix. This is just a band-aid, but if you are out on the course and need to fix it right away (OB right), the easiest thought is to feel like you are reaching out and shaking hands with your target with your dominant (your right) hand while stepping forward. It gets you on your front foot and lets you turn the clubhead over. It's also called the Gary Player drill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60aG-QgAKKA |
The Price Cutter Charity Classic started today here in Springfield. I'm going tomorrow to take it in. I'm a VIP:) I'm taking an old friend who's being treated for cancer. We met playing HS golf back in the 70s so old friend it is. His son died and then his wife died. Then when he moved away for a new job his whole team was fired. After that one of his dogs died and then he was diagnosed with cancer. :shake: True story:(

Highland Springs is a respectable track. The front nine is rough for high handicappers.

Anyone golfed in Las Vegas? I'm heading there in just over a month to play a couple of rounds at TPC Las Vegas. Probably will add in one more round somewhere else.
I've been to Vegas numerous times but never golfed there. I'm really looking forward to it. |

Seriously. Architect who came up with #18 is a ****man. The typical blue tee location pretty much forces you to attempt carrying the trees or laying up as best you can at the bottom of the hill which still leaves a lot of real estate to work with, topped off with that wonderfully protected peninsula green. |

I am so tired of watching Rickie Fowler and people claiming what a great player he is. Overrated severlyou. Look at that terrible round he shot yesterday.

I've played that once and really liked it. There was a crazy few holes where there was this large drop off the side of the fairway like 50 foot drop and a wall of hard stone imbedded with golf balls. |

BTW, the group I am going with is from this site called The Hacker's Paradise. It's got an insanely active message board, where everything under the sun is discussed besides golf. We are playing a two day tournament (2 players/team) and the winners get a new fitted set of Bridgestone clubs.
They have all kinds of events throughout the year and are always running contests to give away gear, including clubs, balls, etc. They have one event each year called The Grandaddy, where if you are lucky enough to get selected through various contests, you will receive an all expenses paid trip to Carlsbad, CA. It's sponsored by Callaway Golf and they custom fit all the participants with a full set of clubs. Then they play a two day tournament against the Callaway marketing team at The Hideaway, which is two incredible courses near Palm Springs. I've been a member there for a couple of years. You should really check it out. http://www.thehackersparadise.com/forum/ |

Ironically they now have a TPC Summerlin but this doesn't look like the course I played. https://www.tpc.com/tpc-summerlin UPDATE: Just saw that it was called TPC at the Canyons. That is now bringing back some memories. |
Shit, I didn't realize O-city was a HS member. He probably saw me during the Highlander a few years back...

I played 9 and shot -3 33. Not bad for and old man. |

Well I purchased my first set of clubs today. Looking forward to learning more about the game. I enjoy the driving range, just never pulled the trigger on purchasing a set. I never played, but I heard scrambles are a good time.

I gave golf a solid try for about 3 years after my first motorcycle crash. took a few lessons, played probably 3-4 times a month during the warm months etc. Just never got it, in terms of being even remotely consistent. I enjoyed it though most of the time, but usually by the end of the round, I was just wore out from being frustrated and $30-50 lighter in the pocket book.
wish I developed just a tiny bit, I think I would still be playing. haven't played since probably 2009. Alot of my buddies play, so I wish I was more into it to hang with them etc. |

Checked this place out Saturday and they gave me a tour. Very, very nice and saw a couple of well known people while onsite.
$95,000 to join and $695 a month in dues. Wish I had that kind of money..........:( |
I'm flying out to Vegas tomorrow morning for a golf tournament. I'll be playing Fri, Sat, Sun at TPC Las Vegas (Fri is a practice round). I've been to Vegas more times than I can count, but never have played golf there. I'm super excited and can't wait to get there.
Read all about it here: http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...ll-Bag-of-Gear |

I can crush my drives and long irons. Get a little shaky with my short irons. Most usually a two putt. Luckily the further away i am the straighter i approach.
|

I can't even crush the ball anymore. My back is so ****ed up I can't get through it enough to get the distance I want. An amazing drive for me is 250 yards. I'm generally somewhere around 230 yards. It sucks, but it's what I am at this point. My 15 year old just pisses on the ball. He regularly hits it 280+. He's limber like a rubber band. Hell, he hits his 4 iron about the same distance I drive the ball |

I can't embed this video, but it's incredible. Euros are practicing for the Ryder cup and they're having a hard time making this putt. They've each tried a few times. They're talking as if it's impossible, and some guy in the crowd says I could make the putt. Hendricks heard him and said who said that? Guy comes forward, Justin Rose lays $100 out and the dude nailed it. Great video of the whole thing at the link below.
