But he's been a large part of the team's success.

and the fact that Brady through for almost 500 ****ing yards. Of course you need help in other area's, but when you cant beat your opponent when the defense does not let them score 1 ****ing touchdown and you cant hit 20 points AT HOME, there is a major ****ing problem. Especially considering that the defense of said team got ****ing murdered the following week.

I would give Alex far more credit for those regular season wins if he would just ONCE put a ****ing team away when we got them on the ropes.

I don't think he put a team away with an offensive TD ****ing ONCE this season when he was given a lead in the 4th quarter.

They are looking for his replacement.
Of that I am.certain.

A pair of ten game winning streaks, playoffs 3 of 4 seasons, winning records despite difficult schedules...that makes Dorsey/Reid stupid for playing Smith? A lot of this without Charles and Houston. Okay bud.

Sucks for you guys if you can't accept Smith as your QB cause it's going to be a long 1.5-2.5 years before you get to see someone else take over as the starter.

Sorry, but you QB just doesn't do an interview and say that unless it's either true or they are a raging douche.

I absolutely believe that Hill wasn't in the play's progression.

Alex Smith might be a mediocre QB but he is not one to lie about stuff or not take responsibility for his ****-ups.

Even the RB breaking open.

It's horrific

It basically sums up Alex's 4 years here in one play.

Well, it would certainly explain his massive regression from the 2015 season and it's true that teams certainly attempt to hide these types of injuries.

But, it also kind of sounds like an excuse.

I guess we'll see soon enough...

Alex Smith got a pretty normal QB contract. We won a playoff game so the Smith era was worth it. And now we can get out of his contract next year with almost no cap harm at the same time that Mahomes should hopefully be ready to be the guy. I don't think it was a bad contract at all. I don't think Alex can take us to the next level and I'll gladly move on, but if Mahomes becomes a good QB, I won't regret the Alex Smith era.

I want to move on from Alex Smith as much as the next guy. But it was important to get the playoff win monkey off their back. The Chiefs had a losing culture for so long that nobody wanted to play here. Under Alex Smith, the franchise stabilized from chaos and that included 1 or 2 years where he got knocked around behind a shitty OL. Maybe the Chiefs should have found a rookie QBOTF sooner, but I have no will against Alex Smith or his contract.

Denver never had what felt like a playoff curse
Denver wasn't in chaos when he joined
Tebow didn't bring stability. He entered a good situation, flashed for a year, then got booted

The chiefs rebuilt. They won their fans back after flat out revolt. Now they drafted a first rounder in an ambitious trade and he will start soon enough. So yeah, if mahomes does well, I'm fine with how this thing went. I'm glad mahomes doesn't walk in having to clean up a mess or break a 30 year curse

The Broncos had one playoff win in 12 years before Tebow beat Pittsburgh.

They were very much a team in flux when he came along. They had just gone 4-12 the season prior to his amazing playoff success.

Not a single **** was given and they got a Super Bowl for their boldness.

ROFL. 1 playoff win in 6 years. Boohoo.

The Chiefs were 0 for 22 w/the 3rd worst drought in the league.

Denver went 4-12. The Chiefs went 2-14, had a fan revolt against the GM, and spent the next 2-3 years upheaving about 90% of the roster.

RunKC 07-23-2017 12:31 PM

Signing Manning wasn't bold. And it's been proven that Elway is average without Manning.

It's not hard to look good when you have one of the 5 best QB's leading your team.

They were 8-8 and beat easily the worst Steelers team in the past decade. It was one of the most unimpressive playoff wins I've ever seen. Pittsburgh had fallen apart and their defense was done (and their offense hadn't begun it's ascension).

Winning the division at 8-8 is impressive?

I think people quickly forget how cursed we believe this team was after not winning a playoff game for 22 years.

Or how much of a shitstorm this team was when Pioli got shitcanned.

Winning a Super Bowl is obviously the main goal. But you can't jump from 0 to 100 overnight. Winning a playoff game, building franchise stability and a winning culture are big victories. And Alex Smith for all his flaws was a big part of making that happen.

Yea, but we kicked their ass like we should've in their house. Then went on to lose to the Pats by 7 with a ton of injuries.

They won a tight game at home against a team that was falling apart and entering a transitional period. Then went on to get blown out by the Pats 45-10.

Big difference between the two.

Hammock Parties 07-23-2017 04:29 PM

Only on Chiefsplanet is beating Brian Hoyer in the playoffs more impressive than a win over future HOFer Ben Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger threw 21 TD's and 14 INT's in 2011. Their defense had fallen apart due to injuries and age.

That team lost to ****ing Tim Tebow. There wasn't much difference between that Steelers team and the Texans team we beat. At least the Texans were actually good on one side of the ball. Like I said, we blew them out like we should in their house. The Broncos won a tight one in Mike High. Give me a ****ing break.

I never said the Chiefs suck but the fantasy that John Elway hasn't been successful just isn't true.

He was successful bc he lucked into Manning the same way King Carl lucked into Montana.

Without Manning, Elway is 17-15 which is average.

Hoyer in 2015:

19 TD's 7 INT's
