I'm not opposed to the thought of trading a Nunez for offense, but Jacobs was old and not a good player the moment we got him. A fair number of home runs does not do much to help you win over a full season when your OBP is pathetic.

Mike Jacobs hit one over the green batting eye in centerfield.

Makes sense

Hopefully Dyson remembered to pick up his placenta from the dirt after delivering that bundle of FAIL last night.

Don't get me wrong here, as I am pretty excited with the additions of Hosmer and Duffy, but doesn't it seem as if we are kind of in panic mode right now with decisions being made nearly every single day following every single loss?

Most of the decisions (other than Hosmer) have centered around pitching.

It's painfully obvious we don't have the starting pitching needed to play an entire season. Therefore, we need more middle and long relief arms that can go 2-3 innings (like Holland) and bridge the gap to the 7-9th innings. I seriously am surprised when we have a starting pitcher go 6+ anymore.

Here is your current starting 5, and their ERA's

1. Hochevar - a miraculous 4.87
2, Francis - an awe-inspiring 4.83
3. O'Sullivan - coming back to Earth at 4.65
4. Duffy - breaking the seal at 4.50
5. Adcock - a middle reliever and your new #5, blowing away the competition at 2.16 in 8 games and 16.2 innings pitched.

Yeah..................

Kila was dragging us down so Hosmer was an upgrade... and with Chen and Davies on the DL now we have no choice but to call up pitching help.

By the way, Royals pitching stats in all of MLB:

ERA - 4th worst
Strikeouts - 2nd worst
BB's - 4th worst
Runs - 3rd worst
Saves - 4th worst
Batting Avg - 2nd worst
Quality Starts - miraculously, we are tied for 21st (Thanks, Chen!)

I understand that. But the thought process going in was somewhere in the 100 loss area for this season. Hopefully a little early season run doesn't force us into rushing to many guys to the majors too early. We did that several years ago... and the results were not that great.

When is Chen supposed to come back?

I think it's like the 21st or 22nd

we always expected that a lot of our AAA prospects would be up in July. Hosmer was obviously, ridiculously ready. We had no choice with Duffy unless we wanted to scour the waiver graveyard for some dessicated corpse, but Duffy's up only a month or two ahead of expectations.

In prior years we would have prospects skip AAA completely.

Right, and this isn't like Gordon or Grienke being called up and asking them to carry the franchise right away so there is a little less pressure on these guys.
