@Joelsherman1: #Royals #Yankees #Mets would have interest in Prado, especially those that fail to get Zobrist from #Athletics

Here are my two cents on Moustakas and his changes in approach...
He went into the 2014 season knowing he had to make major changes to his approach to make everything work. He spent the 13-14 offseason working heavily with Pedro Grifol to change that approach and showed up in ST with the pull-happy, wide-open approach we saw at the start of the last season. And it worked. He was crushing MLB quality pitching for power and average, and everything was great. So he went into the season with it. OBviously that approach failed. He eventually started working on a new approach more similar to what he did when drafted, with Sveum, once Grifol was demoted to catching coordinator. He continued working on changing that approach. I don't think it really showed up in the playoffs (though he was in better shape than at the start of the year) as much as he just got hot. But he did change the swing/approach over the offseason and has been much more successful with it this season. Part of that is having the confidence to stick to the approach, too. (You can have the best approach in the world and start failing if you lose confidence in it). Side note: Pedro Grifol's primary responsibility now is "Catching Coordinator." He's dedicated 100 percent to helping Salvador Perez improve, specifically his pitch framing. Has anyone seen one iota of improvement? The numbers don't show it. So... compare his efficacy with that coaching of Salvy with his coaching of hitters. They line up (both ineffective/detrimental). |
Possibly?!? Speculation?!??! It's happening!!!

I would be just fine with adding a switch-hitting version of Alex Gordon to the lineup, especially since that version can also play 2B... or SS... or 3B... or LF... or RF.

I really, really hope we re-up Gordo.
Before the playoffs last year he basically said he'd be a Royal for life and basically just asked the Royals to give him a fair deal. Hoping this year's reluctance is a negotiation tactic, but Andy seems to think his departure is a given. |
Per Chris Cotillo
With Ben Zobrist potentially traded very soon (as @JaneMLB), industry sense is that Royals are still one of his most serious suitors. |
