Have to love this line:

"That's all we know, folks. Draw a coaching chart, write some names on paper slips and make a parlor game out of it: Match the coach with the job. Holding this info back at this juncture has added .13 wins to the Chiefs' bottom line next season. Excellent work, boys. Nixon's cronies couldn't do it any better."

Bertrand Berry did not suck in Denver.

he averages around 30 tackles and 5 sacks a year for his career

I'm thinking that the odds of us not drafting a QB in the first round just went up. Give Thigpen one more shot, and if he pisses down his leg next year draft a QB in '10?

****.

I hate this time of year.

Berry has had two big years: his last one in Denver and his first one in Arizona. The other 9 seasons have been nowhere near as impressive.

So, here's my overall look at this. The only two defensive guys we hired were both 4-3 guys. Clancy ran the 4-3 under Denny Greene by choice, and then Wiz made him switch. Gibbs also ran the 4-3. But I think we're all overlooking one important part of the report.

The following assistant coaches are joining the Chiefs staff:
This would tell me that none of the hires are for coordinators. This means that Gailey probably stays at OC, and we hire a DC.

Unless we use Krumrie as our DC.... I'd ****ing jump ship then though.

Oh, and Wisenhunt went with the "we'll try it this year, but if it doesn't work well, I'll blow it out of the water" approach, but he waited till his 2nd year. I hope we don't have to wait that long with Hailey.

That's pretty typical. Most ordinary players will put up a couple standout years. Remember Eric Hicks.

I'd take Bertrand Berry in a heartbeat. Is he available this FA season?

Yes, unfortunately. :banghead:

We'd better have a couple major players from a coaching perspective come in after this.

If not, color me even more worried about Haley than before......

I better not have to witness Thigpen again.

Albert Haynesworth - you watch - he was average his first 5yrs until these last 2 coming up for the Big $$.

my offseason enthusiasm has now died down a bit...

Yes, and it's why people should look deeper when evaluating. Gibbs, Krumrie and Pendergast may, or may not suck, but just looking at numbers without knowing the back story isn't the way to figure it out.

It's why I hate fantasy football. Now, every clown with a computer thinks he's a great GM, coordinator and coach just waiting to be discovered.
