Casscan has lost my support. I was very much in favor of him becoming a successful quarterback for a long time ... most of last season, in fact. And, even today, were he to douse himself with magic splooge and somehow transform himself into a true, dependable, reliable, consistent QB, I'd support him again. I just don't believe it's possible anymore.

So, speaking for myself, I'm kinda stuck. I'd like him to perform better, yet I fear that, were he to do so, he would remain our quarterback and we would forestall the decision to improve at that position. That's the problem.

understandable...we keep hearing haley tell us that we are still in the process of buliding a really solid foundation. i don't think anyone expected the defense to rise so quickly, hence unrealistic expectations. i'm wondering if haley and company didn't expect him burn barns right off the bat, andare bringing him along with the team, and they all explode close to the same time.

changing receiving weapon, and he made a number of very difficult catches. He made 3 really good grabs today, and another circus catch that would have been a top 10 highlight had Cassel not lead him out of bounds.

Don't feel one bit foolish because we have seen this same scenario from Bowe before and we need a "consistent" Big Time No.1 receiver PERIOD. You watch Bowe will break our hearts several more times this yr.

To your point, I keep telling myself that Mule Casspinch lacks game experience and that, ultimately, he'll grow into his role and responsibilities. My sadness is fostered by the fact that I see him playing, essentially, the same way game in, game out.

At this juncture, I don't think it's too early to declare him a class-A neuron. I have to admit, though, I'm torn. I'd like to see our passing game take off like a bat out of hell rather than a dead rat falling on its ass from a balcony railing. On the other hand, I'm pretty convinced that, the more time we spend waiting for Cassclap to "explode" is time we could put to better use by jamming french fries up our nose.

I do, however, agree that we may be well ahead of schedule overall ... in terms of the "rebuild", I mean. It could well be that the improvement we thought we saw in our defense is real. The Vixens are a damn good offense and can put up a ton of points in a short time and they seem to prefer doing it in the second half of games ... as we saw today. This was no slouch offense that defeated us today. Not by a long shot.

Let me preface this by saying...

I probably can never go back to the bar where I go to watch football games...

That's how I responded to this loss.

Now...

This game wasn't Matt Cassel...for one time in his Chiefs career he looked good...and he had full command of the offense and he displayed some confidence...

He could have done better...but he didn't.

The defense was built up as some juggernaut that it wasn't today...plain and simple.

And that's why we lost.

Now I'm logging out.

Bye,

So, just like every other game he's played?

Dane's right. Matt Cassel leads his receiver, and Moeaki is wide the **** open. Instead, he lobs the ball over the head of a receiver who has inside positioning. That's asking a lot of your receiver.

It was the right read, but a horrible pass.

Improvement from Cassel is a good thing, it means we might have found our BQBOTF (backup quarterback of the future, for those that couldn't figure that out)

I think his "work ethic" and "fake leadership" are things that a good clipboard holder needs to have and that if we can restructure his deal, he may just be the guy that can take our backup offense to the "promised land" and that he deep down knows his role here is gonna be exactly that, the same it was in college and the same it was in NE (until, as a backup does, he gets to play once an injury happens to the starter)
