Good old Guardian...don't ever change.

When you're trying to use rushing yards to prove the worth of a quarterback you're pretty much reeruned.

Yeah, his 1,400 yards and 22 touchdowns in two seasons just aren't valuable.

Rushing TDs since Cam Newton entered the NFL:

Cam Newton: 22

Kansas City Chiefs: 14

13 including a four game winning streak to end the season.

Wins the season before he got there: 2

Cam Newton's rookie season:

Passing TDs
CN: 21
KCC: 13

Rushing TDs
CN: 14
KCC: 5

Passing yards
CN: 4051
KCC: 3288

Rushing yards
CN: 706 (5.6 yards per attempt)
KCC: 1893 (3.9 yards per attempt)

If Cam Newton isn't worth the number one pick in the draft, I submit that the entire Kansas City Chiefs roster isn't worth the number one pick in the draft.

In his rookie season, Cam Newton, a ****ing QB, scored 14 TDs.

The Kansas City Chiefs entire offense scored 18.

TheGuardian 02-18-2013 03:05 PM

I'm not sure why you keep comparing Cam to the galactically bad 2012 Chiefs. I really don't.

I mean I could throw up Cassel's pro bowl year stats as "proof" that he's awesome, and then completely neglect the fact that stats don't always tell the whole story.

I got it, you've got a raging hard on for Newton but it doesn't change the fact that the guy is ****ing stupid, and doesn't have it upstairs. So try to keep that reeruned case of priapism under control and wake up to the real world at some point. The guy doesn't have the brains to be an elite, SB level QB. Stats can suck my asshole.

Do it. Use stats to show me how awesome Matt Cassel is.

It can't be any less effective than your current strategy of saying "he's stupid, he's a diva, QB ratings".

Way to start out strong with your response, btw. Between using the nonsensical term " galactically bad" and referencing a comparison to the 2012 Chiefs rather than the actual subject of the comparison (2011 Chiefs), you really set a high standard for yourself.

FTR, that galactically bad team (whatever the **** that means) was a blocked FG in the last game away from winning the division.

From 08 to 10 Cassel threw for 64 TD's and only 34 picks. He had an 84 QB rating in that time and passed for 9733 yards. An "average" of 3244 yards a season.

Cherry picking stats is always fun.

**** Cam Newton and **** you if you think he's really a franchise QB.

Sorter 02-18-2013 03:18 PM

As to the OP, no. I really like Geno's upside. That isn't to say that I think Cam isn't an undeserving #1 or wouldn't be in contention. For me, I like Geno's abilities as a passer more so than Cam's despite Cam's clearly superior athleticism and unique skills he brings to the table.

That being said, if Cam were here, I think Andy, Pederson and Nagy would help him grow much more as a passer than he will at Carolina.

You've just described an average QB.

Newton averages 3960 yards passing for his career, 700+ yards per season more than MC during that stretch. He also accounted for 62 total TDs in just 2 years versus MC's 64 in 3 years.

You're really bad at this.

Saccopoo 02-18-2013 03:24 PM

There is no ****ing way I take Cam Newton over the possibility of drafting Geno Smith.

I dunno about that.

Saul Good 02-18-2013 03:29 PM

Here's an average game in Cam Newton's career if you divide his stats by 32:

250 yards passing
50 yards rushing
2 TDs (combined)
1 turnover (interceptions and fumbles)

O.city 02-18-2013 03:30 PM

Cam is a physical freak. Great arm too.

Does seem to lack the mental stuff at this point, which is a red flag.

But a Qb starved franchise like the Chiefs would be crazy to not do this.
