Privacy is an illusion in 2013. You can't live off the grid. Nada chance. You are born in the USA and you get a SSN# that's it, no chance to live off the grid.
That being said, you can scrub your internet profile to remove the really personal stuff. Work gave me about 8 hours of training on how to do it, twice.
