Yesterday was sunny, by my standards even. Today is is overcast and gray, but I do not mind at all. I am here to soak up as many things Scottish as I can: the air, the cold, the warmth of the sun, mist and rain, the beer, the food, the voices, the music, the landscape, the trees and flowers, and the buildings. So, let it be gray today!

Since I tried haggis and liked it, I thought I'd be brave once more and ordered black pudding with my breakfast. It was shaped like a hockey puck and more cohesive than the haggis was. The flavor was like turkey stuffing in some ways and I liked it. The lady told me it was healthy and good for the liver. Maybe that will send those tumors packing! And you know how they make it black... With BLOOD! Today is my last full day in Scotland and I will be headed to the airport around noon tomorrow. There are just two pubs left on my list to visit. I decided not to do the Loch Ness day tour, however. There is so much to see and do here in Edinburgh that I don't feel like I cheated myself by not going to see the loch.

Glad your having a good time Ed.

And so my time in Scotland draws to an end. It was a blast here and five days in Edinburgh was far from boring or dull. I had to walk up a very steep incline on a street named Cockburn and the name was very odd since when I reached the top, it was my feet that were burning! I am about to check out of the hotel and head to the bus station to get a ride to the airport, then back to Denmark I go.

I got to the airport PLENTY early. I made it through the rather chaotic security with little hassle aside from having my shaving gel and toothpaste run through the "sniffer" to see if it would blow up or not. Now I am sitting and waiting 60 more minutes for my departure gate to be posted. I bet it will be on the other end of the airport from where I am now!

I mentioned her in a post before, a woman I met online who had battled stomach cancer. She was very supportive of me in my battle and was "worse off" than I am, having to be fed mostly through a tube and she was so happy when after years, she got to eat mashed potatoes again. She was 5'11" and only 93 lbs. after cancer ravaged her. I just read a post of Facebook that she had died. She messaged me just four days ago asking how I was and hoping I was having fun over here, and while I knew her kidneys were giving her trouble, she seemed fine. She may have died just in the past 24 hours. God bless you, Sheila, and I am glad that your suffering is over, but I will miss your strength and encouragement.

With Dave (not sure if he is still with us or not), Saccopoo being AWOL and we likely know why, and Sheila dying, I feel so oddly alone. It was like I was part of this quartet fighting cancer in some form or another and now it's just me on my own. I know I have the support of so many here and other places as well, so I am not isolated, but I hope you can understand my feelings now of being alone.
One of my high school classmates had inflammatory breast cancer and she has been very supportive and has told me in detail much of her trials. I imagine she has felt like I do now when so many women in her support group died. Maybe I should send her a message. |
You are not alone man.. You have the love of your amazing family, your great friends, and lastly even this KC Chiefs bulletin board.
You are not alone, man. Try not to give into those feelings of depressions that you have worked so hard to stave off, even if it is somewhat natural to feel that way. |
We're here.

She used to be a physically striking woman, red hair, blue eyes, 5'11" and all. The stomach cancer ruined all that, and her hair never grew back well, so she shaved her head and wore wigs. When I met her and she confided in me that she was so happy to be able to eat mashed potatoes, and the extra carbs brought her UP to 93 pounds, I was amazed at this woman's strength and what she was able to take joy in. A few months back, she talked about how she and her daughter went out into the forest and tossed her suicide pills into a river. She seemed to be improving, but then her kidneys started to go, and she had to have a hospice nurse again, which she hated having to rely on. I never met her face to face and she wouldn't post photos of herself on her FB page, but she meant a lot to me, and I hope she knew that. I hope she was greeted in Heaven with a 72 oz. ribeye, a BAKED potato, and all sorts of crunchy stuff that she'd have to chew. That amazing woman sure had to deal with a lot of horrible things here on Earth. |
Sending good vibes to the Lone wolf cancer fighting machine.

I have been having upper abdominal pains and even an odd pressure against the inside of my ribs on the left side, which is new. I got pissed and punched myself in the gut earlier today and it made the pains go away where I hit myself. I probably won't try that again, though. I am having brown ales outside the cafe since there is a 50th bday party in there. I have had three so far, but I want another.

Lord have mercy! If only I could get a photo of this woman I see outside the cafe... She is with a guy, of course. She is beyond gorgeous and stunning. Blonde, hair done up awesomely, slender but not skin and bone, tall, and her face is just about enough to make a guy forget to breathe. Aphrodite comes to mind. If I look at her too long, tears start to form in my eyes. Wow.

What happens at the Loch stays at the Loch. |
My dad emailed me and asked how I was doing. I shouldn't have mentioned that the abdominal pains I have had since March got very bad the Sunday before last, such that I could hardly bend to tie or untie my shoes. My doc told me it is the newly infected lymph node by my liver pushing against stuff in there that causes the pains. Now my dad wants me to come back to KC now and end my trip. I don't want to do that. I need to be away from all the doctors, nurses, needles, chemo, and all that mess. If I die before I return, so be it. I am not really expecting much out of whatever treatment I have in store next. A friend's wife back in KC said I should go to a doctor here and get methadone for the pains. Umm, last time I checked, I had cancer, not a heroin addiction... She was a surgeon in Croatia but she says some wild stuff. She also said I should get and smoke weed. Maybe I should just have a hooker bring me the methadone and weed, and a pizza, and we can make it a party.
With my luck, it would be a tranny, he would have brought Mentos instead of methadone, smoked the weed on the way and ate all the pizza. |
At least the breath on the back if your neck would smell good...

unless one of our resident docs can straighten me out, i think the lady gave you sound advice... oh yeah, pot is one of the best anti-inflammatories known to man, to say nothing of it's contributions to appetite and an improved sense of well-being... i recommend it without reservation... |
