This Phil/Fowler vs. Rory/Sullivan match is insane....
2-0 USA early....great start.... |
Beating that Euro ass and the crowd jeering them every chance they get. I was at the Medinah RC a few years back. One of the best events in sports
|
Holy shit the U.S. sweep the morning Foursomes....who would've seen that coming???
|
Just got back from up there. That place is insane. Loved seeing all the players interact with the fans. Really cool experience

Darren Clarke’s fury as Willett’s brother blasts US Ryder Cup fans Darren Clarke has expressed anger after the brother of Danny Willett used an online column to attack American fans in a supposedly light-hearted way that has spectacularly backfired. Pete Willett shot to prominence by virtue of his comedic Twitter coverage of his brother winning the Masters in April. Yet within days of the start of the 41st Ryder Cup, Willett has stirred controversy with an article saying that Europe “need to silence the pudgy, basement-dwelling, irritants, stuffed on cookie dough and pissy beer, pausing between mouthfuls of hot dog so they can scream ‘Baba booey’ until their jelly faces turn red”. He continued: “They need to stun the angry, unwashed, Make America Great Again swarm, desperately gripping their concealed-carry compensators and belting out a mini-erection inducing ‘mashed potato,’ hoping to impress their cousin. “They need to smash the obnoxious dads, with their shiny teeth, Lego man hair, medicated ex-wives, and resentful children. Squeezed into their cargo shorts and boating shoes, they’ll bellow ‘get in the hole’ whilst high-fiving all the other members of the Dentists’ Big Game Hunt Society.” It will be interesting to see how Danny Willett is treated by the home crowd when the Ryder Cup begins on Friday. His brother, writing for nationalclubgolfer.com, also referred to US supporters as “cretins” and “fat, stupid, greedy, classless, bastards”. When posting the article on Twitter, Willett stressed: “I mean every word.” Clarke, Europe’s captain, and Danny Willett, are seriously unamused. Clarke said on Wednesday: “I just was made aware of the article about an hour ago. I haven’t seen it. As soon as I did, I went out to find Danny, who was playing in the last group this morning. I spoke to Danny about it. I showed it to Danny. And he’s bitterly disappointed in his brother’s article. “It is not what Danny thinks. It is not what I think. It is not what Team Europe stands for. So Danny was unaware of it and he fully intends to speak to his brother whenever he comes in and express his displeasure to his brother about it, because that is not what Team Europe stands for. “I was very disappointed in it, as well, because that’s an outside person expressing their opinion which is not representative of what our thoughts are.” Willett was made aware of the article during Wednesday’s practice round at Hazeltine and later told the Golf Channel: “I’d just like to apologise obviously to everyone involved for what’s been said. “It’s obviously not the thoughts of myself and of the team and of captain Darren. I spoke to him [Pete] on the phone after I was made aware of what was said and what has been going on. “And I said to Pete that I was obviously disappointed in what was said and what was written about the American fans that obviously took me under their wing fantastically back in April [at the Masters].” Davis Love III, the US captain, said he was aware of the article. “I heard about it on the course,” said Love. “I took advice and ignored the noise. “If you know me, I don’t even read my own press clippings when I win. If I read it, I am just going to get mad. If I read it, I’m just going to get defensive. So I just try to ignore it. “The fans at a home event, both in Europe and over here, get into it. They are so excited. A big part of home field advantage is the fans. If we play well here and get the fans behind us then we have an advantage. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...rticle-us-fans |

Reed/Spieth winning their afternoon match would have really been huge. I like Garcia, but I would sure like to see the U.S. shove his ear-culp and Rory's bow's back in their faces.
The crowd size and intensity this morning was out of control. |
Forgive the focus, I can't take pictures with my cell phone to save my life.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. East northeast wind around 5 mph. |
Mostly sunny on the course. 20 miles to the north-foggy. I have visibility of 1/2 mile.
How do you know the Ryder cup is in the Midwest? ESPN is not talking about it. |
Damn. Feel bad for Westwood, but how do you not just knock that in?

Hopefully Spieth doesn't play like he did the last 27 holes yesterday. I don't see Holmes or Fowler winning. Phil hasn't looked great either. The US could easily have a very poor start. Interesting strategy for the US, matching the guns with the guns. |

Reed vs McIlroy is amazing right now. And I don't care about them getting pumped. Both guys are doing it now and they're bumping fists with one another too. They are both cool with it.

The ass kicking was great but I am so SICK of the stupid golf fans who heckle and scream baba booey. Kick em out.

Fun tournament. I like the chippiness of the Ryder Cup - brings added excitement to the game, which is nice on occasion. Wish there were more tourneys this style.
On a semi-related note, I really want to see a pro 2-man scramble, just to see what kind of numbers they'd put up. |
Floatplane pilot lands in hot water at Ryder Cup
Small plane that put down on Lake Hazeltine Sunday was met by Chaska police. By Pat Pheifer Star Tribune OCTOBER 2, 2016 — 8:20PM Well, that wasn’t too smart. A floatplane pilot and passenger apparently decided the best way to see the final matches of the Ryder Cup was to land on Lake Hazeltine and drop anchor adjacent of the 7th hole. Chaska Police Chief Scott Knight wasn’t amused. A city ordinance, you see, prohibits any activity on the lake during the event. Ryder Cup security even includes an official from the FAA watching radar. Knight described the incident, which happened about 2:30 p.m. Sunday: A small plane was seen coming in low, then banked sharply and disappeared off radar, Knight said. That meant the plane had landed. Police deployed a boat and headed to the plane. But the motor failed and the officers had to row the rest of the way, the chief said. The pilot and passenger were brought to shore; the plane was left anchored in the lake. The two men were given citations. “But there are more things looming in the pilot’s future,” Knight said. “The FAA Flight Standards division is very interested in him. He’s violated their rules and they will be talking to him on Monday.” Knight called the pilot’s actions “imbecilic” and “stupid.” “In this day and age, with all the things that I think even the most casual person is aware of in regards to security, threats and potential dangers ... to roll the dice and not even think there is potential for not having a mishap or getting our attention is beyond me,” the chief said. The pilot and passenger are “afoot,” Knight said. The plane will stay where it is until the Ryder Cup is completely done. Did the pilot know he’d made a mistake? “He claimed he didn’t, but I can’t imagine he didn’t. Lake Hazeltine has no public access. All of the shoreline is privately owned, Knight said. Two canoeists who arrived on the lake shortly after the plane landed also were cited by police. Earlier in the tournament, police had to ask two kayakers to leave the lake, too. On Wednesday, a helicopter flew “way too low” over the tournament. Officials were waiting for him when he landed “and he’s got some repercussions,” Knight said. Knight said the interlopers were the biggest security problem police had to handle during the Ryder Cup. “We weren’t expecting it but we had a plan and it worked,” he said. |

Playing golf in 1974 in Bell Bottoms! With hair! Never had a real golf instructor at that point. A little tucked and over the top. I remember that shot it was low pull that played. |
Anyone gotten the bug and started playing yet? I dusted off the trackman this morning. This is my last summer in my 20's (**** I'll be 30 in July) so I'm gonna try and play a lot. Going to northern Nebraska in August to play the Prairie Club for a week.
http://theprairieclub.com Anyone have any experience there? Gonna be a big golf summer for me. We're going to South Carolina for a family vacay in June, Hilton Head, etc. Then Pinehurst in July and Nebraska in August. |
I've hit balls a few times so far. Spring break is next week, so I may get the chance to go out a few times.
I'm thinking about ordering some new wedges and a driving iron or 2H. |

Also hoping to hit Deere Run either right before or right after the John Deere Classic. |

Heading to Florida and Georgia tomorrow. Have 4 RDS scheduled already next week. |
Got out with the younger son on Tuesday for 18 holes at a cheap price. We got to do the front 9 twice because the back 9 were being aerated and sanded. It was awesome. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...759b7596cd.jpg

I got one round in about a month ago. Shot 47/51 which I was pretty pleased with for my first time out. Putting on the back 9 was horrible or could have been better. Just got invited for a round at Grand Summit tomorrow. |

Now, I rarely hit the green, but I'm usually pin-far (pin-high seems like an overstatement in my case!!), and they're hitting a provisional. And yeah, I love that course. It's the right price for me and my skill level. I 'm more into hockey (because of the son nowadays), so golf is what we do to unwind and just talk. Buy 50-cent balls on Amazon and losing a few seems to matter little, and you can tell the water hazards to go **** themselves all the easier. |

Headed to Vegas in a week to play Wolf Creek, Coyote Springs, and TPC Las Vegas. Anybody played any of them? Heard Wolf Creek is nice but didn't know.

Wolf creek is super nice. It's tough though. Watch out for rattle snakes

I spent an hour the day before at TaylorMade golf range right down the road hitting 90 balls for most of my clubs and another 1/2 hour on the range before teeing off, both times striking the ball great. Then suddenly I get on the course and I was awful. I shot a 103 and probably would have to add another 5 shots if I had to re-tee rather then dropping where my ball disappeared. My buddy shot a 90 and he played great except a few holes on the back. He should have shot an 85. We played the Men's blended tees at 6,347 yards for a Par 71. Course conditions: Tee boxes-superb Fairways-excellent to nearly perfect. Few divots and the grass is cut pretty tight so you always have a near perfect lie. Rough-not too punishing and easy to hit out of, always green grass of 1-2 inches max. Sandtraps-Incredible consistent for everyone I was in but they have little sand in them. You get a lot of bounce after striking the ball and it's very hard to get it close on any hole if the pin is close to the trap. The sand is NOT like the beach sand on many coastal courses. Rarely did I see an un-raked or footprints in the traps. Waste bunkers- Great shape and easy to escape Greens-This would be my only minor complaint. The greens were hard as a rock and the ability to stop a ball with a low or long approach was near zero. They rolled fantastic and read 11.5 on the stimpmeter, so pretty damn fast. I had a lot of trouble with speed since I haven't played golf in nearly a year. They had some ball marks here and there but not like a $40 public course would. Overall my buddy gave the course an 8.0 out of 10 and I would have to agree. We have both played a ton of courses all over the US in Myrtle Beach, Florida, California and Phoenix-Scottsdale area, so we know a good course from a bad one. The scenery and layout are fantastic, it's a fair course if you hit it straight, and for the most part, not too long. However, the two last holes 17 and 18 were brutal, both 420+ yards par fours and after a long day, it was punishing. There are a lot of terrain and elevation changes, so you have a lot of shots that are not a flat lie. Very easy to find balls in the waste area, just be careful as the course has a lot of terrain changes so if you venture down a slope, don't twist your ankle and always bring a club to prepare for a snake. Rabbits and little prairie dogs are everywhere. We got caught on the 11th hole when a sudden vicious thunder and lighting storm came rolling through and we had to seek shelter with everyone else at a bathroom building with another 24 golfers all huddled up. The temperature dropped 20 degrees and my buddy was shivering when the rain came down. The wind was brutal and we were off the course for about 70 minutes. Getting loosened back up was hard as hell. Pro shop logo shirts stupid expensive-didn't buy at $80. I picked up 3 golf shirts on sale at Las Vegas Golf and Tennis along with TaylorMade range for $94 including a nice pair of Epoch sunglasses. The TPC Grille bar and food were excellent if not a little pricey, $177 for lunch for two people as we had about 4 wines each along with one beer plus food. Had a great enjoyable day and I would play it again. |

So I went and hit balls tonight after work with my oldest son, he's 3. He's really into golf so he has a good time on the range and stuff.
On the end of the range we have a short game area with a bunker and chipping area etc, so I hit on the end and he can go up and play around up there. Fun times. |
Cool story.... New boss' mom and dad won "forever" Masters 'badges' years ago, so he'll be there Friday through Monday. I didn't know that's how it worked. And he's been going for years and told me how affordable it is once you get in.
|
Dustin Johnson apparently hurt himself falling down a staircase tonight. Still plans to play round 1 of the Masters tomorrow. A lot of people have been marking him as the prohibitive favorite with the way he's been playing.
|
Yeah that's sucks. High winds tomorroe and Friday also suck.
|
Charley Hoffman making me look like a ****ing savant in my Masters pool.
So far. |
Saturday looms perfect weather wise. Guys are scoring.
|
There's nothing in sports quite like Sunday roars at the Masters. With a packed leaderboard, it's gonna be a doozy.
Can't wait. |
The Saturday at Augusta was a classic...Hoffman will wake up an realize he's just lucky to have made the cut. It's clear Spieth is ready to make a run even with a 9 on his card from round 1.
I dont miss broke dick Tiger and his PED's. |

The Ryder Cup got me a but on moores bandy, but I don't much care yo see guys who aren't likely to win many more majors win. I like dynasties and big time players.
I miss Tiger as well. It's better with him playing. |
Paul Casey 2 under thru 3, should or could easily be 4.
|
Speith kind of all over the place here early, Sergio just center cutting everything.
Rick with a bird on 3. |
Just to fill you guys in, cause I'm sure you're dying to know, my golf game is really rounding into shape this year. I made some changes over the winter and I'm really hitting it well. Shallowing the club out to get it on plane early, it's paying off well.
My last excursion in our friday afternoon game, I was even thru 17 and ended up throwing up a 75, with a nice little 8 on 18. You'd think I'd learn to lay up there, but I digress. In our Sat morning game, which is not handicapped like the friday game, so it's actually possible to win some money without shooting 65, I played really well. They just busted up the greens last week, so I didn't putt very well. Shot 71. Our saturday morning game is 2 handicaps or better so it's pretty intense. One of my close friends wife actually won the game and about 100 bucks. He and his wife played at South Carolina and she was an all american there I think. I don't much enjoy playing with her, she's a freaking stick. Ironically, she has 2 other sisters who all played D1 golf. Anyway, looking forward to the summer of golf. Gonna be a big year hope everyone gets out and plays. All of you fellow CP golfers always have an open invitation here in Springfield if you ever would like to play. |
Made it to the back 9, so it begins
|
many making a move. Garcia trying hard to give it up.
Pieters doing well |
I always wonder-if this place is so damn hard to play as a pro-who plays this course and how do they do?
|
Sergio is choking again...I actually feel kinda bad for him...
