Zero Final Fours.
I realize we're bringing up the hard truth that just absolutely baits Jayhawk flamers, but it needs to be said.

Why would you want a man who has taken Missouri as far as it's ever been in the tournament (and has the highest winning percentage of any tenured Missouri coach) to go somewhere else? Barring a money issue-- that's an argument I could see-- you'd be plumb stupid to want that.

What, are we going to hire Brad Stevens? HA!!! He's turned down better. Some OTHER mid-major coach who will start from the ground, up, losing multiple connections in-state for recruiting? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

at least one MU fan gets it.

As an outsider, it appears to me that Anderson has reached a plateau with HIS guys. If he stays at MU he will never get past the 2nd round again.

Norman Stewart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear that Arkansas will make a push for Mike Anderson... I dunno if it's been mentioned here or not. But, I hope he stays. I think he is good for the conference.

FYI, I had Mizzou beating Cincy.

history says, maybe thats the best it gets. who do they get after running out the coach that got them the furthest?

i wouldn't say that.....the hard truth is that this team wasn't very good, lacked depth, no big men inside, and many MU fans were counting on freshmen and JUCO players to take them to the next level.

After getting by against horrible non-conf opponents, they started to get their asses kicked by the bigger, stronger, better Big12 teams.

As are most teams. You choose to root for teams that make you think you're a winner, because you seem to lack conviction (or, at least, that's how it appears on here).
At least we have the balls to root for a team that might not win all the time. You live your life an angry e-douche. Must be rough.

I'm not calling for his firing, I am merely stating I think he will never be more than a round of 32 coach from this point forward.

ArrowheadMagic 03-17-2011 10:30 PM

seriously, no trolling. for those that want MA gone... who replaces? It seems at least half the fans want him gone.

ArrowheadMagic 03-17-2011 10:31 PM

because we will be fighting for the same coaches

teedubya 03-17-2011 10:32 PM

Mizzou has to do a better job of keeping in-state talent. Period. If they can do that, they can compete every year. Missouri has a ton of top notch hoops talent. Most of it leaves the state, though, unfortunately.

Okay, first: you can't say this. You simply can't. You'll begin making strawman arguments on your own opinion of future success. His 2012 class has a chance to be absolutely, wildly successful. He signed two major guys-- two of his three scholarships given to HS seniors-- this year. One absolutely MAJOR kid didn't make it because Frank Martin is shady and ratted him out for attending the very school Martin persuaded him to enroll in.

Next year, he's got Brad Beal, Ben McLemore, and Otto Porter in-state to recruit. Brad has been solid on Florida since before CMA could really recruit him. McLemore grew up loving kU, but his mind still isn't made up (decision coming 4/3 BTW). Otto Porter is "the best High School player no one knows about" (ESPN.com), and he's coming to Missouri, coming off a 40-point effort in the MSHSAA state championship game. It's likely they land two five-star recruits, but at least one is a given.

In 2012, CMA will have his true test. He'll be replacing EIGHT players (why he took two JuCo's last year, adding to that already high number of six, is beyond me). He's already in on five top-100 players, Jarnell Stokes being his best bet right now (#10 in the country, I think?)

College basketball is all about recruiting, and I really think he'll get it done. If he doesn't, come 2013, I'll join the chorus for his departure. Until then, everything's gravy.
We're maybe the 30th best program in the country. I'll take pretty much anyting as a bonus while we establish ourselves as an elite team. If we don't, it won't be for lack of trying.

This is a VERY complex problem. Mizzou and some of the StL black community have major problems. You'd think having an African American coach would resolve that; it hasn't. Many of them harbor some really deep hatred for Missouri and persuade kids to go pretty much anywhere but Columbia. It doesn't help that StL AAU is all about the underhanded love, if you catch my drift.

Anderson took over an embarrassment of a team. I went to MU during Quin's tenure. I saw him, in a drugged-out haze, approach Linas Kleiza and threaten to "beat his stupid ass" over something (my ex at the time lived a floor below Kleiza, Gardner, and a couple other players). Kleiza would be allowed to be out until 2:30 am getting hammered before game days. There was so much strife and drama on his teams, partly because Quin himself was still an immature douchebag. Why is it so tough for us to count our blessings? I certainly hope we never see a team quit, and I can understand why so much has been a disappointment this year, but I just don't think we're going to do better by letting Mike walk.

Stanley Nickels 03-17-2011 10:42 PM

PS: Per Twitter, Mike Anderson has told the media "I'm going to be at Missouri, and that's the end of the story". Multiple sources around DC seem to corroborate that quote.

sorry make that 1-10...forgot that bill wiped hi ass w/ Anderson in his first ku season w hen MA was at UAB.

It's better than Roy splitting w/ MU year after year when KU clearly had a superior team every season. The whole "KU will lose in CoMo" talk started because Roy had trouble winning in CoMo...with Self, that's not the case.

and quin had a better record against kansas if that says anything.
