Shocking new details were revealed during the sentencing of a former teacher and mother of five who pleaded guilty to having sex with a male high school student in Illinois.

Sarah L. Myers, 41, of Garden Prairie, Ill., who was a special education teacher at a high school in Poplar Grove, Ill., was sentenced last week to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to two sex acts in Boone County.

But now she is alleged to have had a third sex act in another county, Champaign County, where she faces pending charges, according to prosecutors.

The teen at the center of the cases was not a special education student, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said, according to the Rockford Register Star.

According to the Star, county prosecutors said the boy reported in April that he had been having sex with Myers since November 2016.

Poplar Grove is in Boone County, about 78 miles west of Chicago.

Myers received credit for 261 days spent in jail and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life, First Assistant State’s Attorney Lise Lombardo said, adding that the former teacher will have to serve 85 percent of her sentence.

The case was originally set for early January but the two sides decided to set the plea and sentencing for Friday, Boone County court records show.

A father has said he found his teenage son having sex in the back of a car with a teacher from his Texas school.

Police in Bay City, 80 miles south-west of Houston, have charged the teacher, Rachel Gonzales, 44, with online solicitation and having an improper relationship with the 13-year-old boy.

During the investigation, police inspected the boy’s mobile phone and found texts from Ms Gonazalez indicating the pair had an inappropriate relationship prior to the alleged incident on 14 December, police said.

At the request of the District Attorney, the Bay City Independent School District, where Ms Gonzalez is a teacher, have turned over the case to the local police.

She was taken to the Matagorda County jail on 22 December but is now out on bond.

Ms Gonzalez officially resigned from her post as a fourth-grade teacher at Cherry Elementary School on 15 December, according to the school district. It is not known whether she has yet had the opportunity to enter a plea.

A local newspaper, the Bay City Tribune, said a September report from the Texas Education Agency found the number of cases against educators accused of inappropriate relationships with minor students increased 36 per cent this past year.

A whopping 302 investigations were opened into such matters this year alone.

The state has experienced an increase in the reporting of such incidents for the ninth consecutive year.

As of September 2017, there is a law in the state requiring school principals or district superintendents report such relationships in a timely manner or face charges of a second-degree felony.

A Florida teacher was arrested Monday after allegedly spending the past two years in a sexual relationship with a teen student -- at their homes and in the classroom.

Valeria Costadoni, the head of the language arts department at Miami Arts Charter School, is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student around four times at her home, WPLG reported, citing an arrest report.
