He's not a precise route runner, and probably never will be. That's DEATH in the Patriots system. If Brady doesn't trust you to run your route precisely, he just won't throw it to you. We've seen that over and over and over again.

Mixed bag really. He's had alot of great hits, and almost never misses with his 1st round picks, but there were some really bad drafts mixed in there, especially '06-'08.

The issue has really been at the DB and WR positions. ALOT of misses at those two spots, and it's really haunted the team for years now.

your drafts got a hell of a lot better when Scooter left. When Scooter got a little more power between 06-08 there was some terrible picks in the same vein as the last four Chiefs drafts

I think they will likely spend a 2 and a 3 to move up int he 2nd, but let's be honest, would you be shocked if one of the 2s went to some team in exchange for a 1 in 2014?

Yeah, ***** was involved in those bad drafts at the end, but he was also involved in the team makeover in 2001 that led to the SBs, in drafting guys like Seymour, Light, Mankins, Wilfork (that one was obvious though -- I remember that draft like it was yesterday), Deion Branch, Ty Warren, Asante Samuel, and Dan Koppen.

Edit: so in summary, fair to say, many very, very good picks in the '01-'05 timeframe, and then things really kinda tanked from '06-'08 and then Pioli was gone. Things definitely got better from '09 on, though I don't really attribute that to SP leaving.

Indeed, I remember some discussion around one particular Patriots pick -- can't remember who -- being a guy that SP almost certainly would have tried to veto, but BB picked him and he was a miserable failure. Don't remember who that was off the top of my head though. I'll look through the Pats draft history and see if I can identify him.
