Immediately going to turn the page on any reservations, though, and enjoy the **** out of an improved roster.

Going to enjoy skull ****ing the rest of the league to the tune of home-field advantage.

Is he a utility player? Yes. But he's going to play virtually every game from here on out

Hope Manea doesn't win multiple Cy Young's.

duncan_idaho 07-28-2015 01:04 PM

Losing Manaea hurts. No way around it. But I'm not going to fault the team for going for it.

He does have some warts that I believe he will overcome and hit his Top of Rotation upside. But he isn't without risk.

The biggest thing is that Zobrist now makes the Royals lineup just rock ****ing solid.

It should look like this, immediately:

Zobrist (LF)
Moustakas
Cain
Hosmer
Morales
Rios
Perez
Infante
Escobar

Once Gordon returns, you get this:

Zobrist/Gordon
Moustakas
Cain
Hosmer (you can make a good argument for Gordon here, too)
Morales
Gordon/Zobrist/Hosmer
Rios
Perez
Escobar

LMAO. Do you need suggestions for a bridge? Buckshot would also work.

okcchief 07-28-2015 01:05 PM

Take it from a Thunder fan.

Cash in and win now. **** tomorrow!

Let's do this!

He'd better for that price.

lewdog 07-28-2015 01:05 PM

Zobrist can play multiple positions. Depending on severity of Gordon's injury and crap play of Rios/Omar it's a good move.

alnorth 07-28-2015 01:05 PM

There's a difference between a utility player and a productive super-utility player who can hit. Zobrist will probably play almost every day.

A util player who hits on the level of Alex Gordon.

He's not one of those util players that you play out of desperation, he's a util player that you can put anywhere you want on the field on any given day.

I just had Manea as untouchable. Oh well.

C3HIEF3S 07-28-2015 01:06 PM

We are simply maximizing our winning window. This is just too good.

That utility player has averaged over 5 WAR season the past five years and is on pace for a 3 win season this year despite missing half of the first half of the season due to injury.

He will replace the weakest player in the Royals lineup when Gordon returns and provide a well above-average bat at that spot (even in RF, if Rios slumps again).

Hope means it's a gamble. Prospects are mostly lottery tickets. You rarely find a winner. We are set to win now.
