It seems like your 34 rushing yards might be more to blame than Alex Smith. Maybe you should've drafted Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush.

Wrong. I blitzed on 10 percent of plays. My pass rush has been generated from my front 4 all season long for the most part.

I dialed back my blitzes in the 2nd game with Anchorage after Smith shredded me in the first game, and it worked.

My gameplan for the playoff game was virtually identical compared to the last game in which my defense throttled Anchorage.

So I'm upset.

Well his offense wasn't exactly stellar in this game, at least in the air. Smith was the definition of a game manager. He only threw for 164 yards. And sure, he put up a lot of rushing yards, but he did it by volume. 37 rushing attempts is a ton of attempts.

His defense played extremely well - which seems fair as he has a really good defense. Shit happens.

Whereas I went back to the drawing board and drew up a completely different game plan from scratch for this match up. Game probably still could have gone either way, but I'm happy with the performance against a top tier defense and improvement from previous match ups.

Reggie Bush, who had 1600 yards rushing, you mean?

I fell behind and had to abandon the run due to the prolific nature of Alex D. Smith's passing.

It was all over at that point. Tom Brady can't hang with Alex D. Smith.

And 150 yards and 3 TD game of it in the first half when he built his lead, which changed the game.

Had it remained a close game, Alex D. Smith probably would have eviscerated me for six TD passes.

REAL MAD. REAL, REAL MAD.

When the chips were down, you couldn't ride Reggie Bush to victory. He choked in the big game, just like Thurman Thomas used to do with the Bills.

I had planned on riding my #2 defense to victory, actually.

ALEX D. SMITH WAS HAVING NONE OF IT.

I know it's inside the division, but perhaps you should consider trading for Alex D. Smith.

As an aside, I'm really liking our initial concept for free agency. That'll start coming into play once cdcox has all of his other to-dos done.

There are no untouchables, but the leagues second best qb wouldn't go cheap. I'd have to look, but maybe you could pair Brady with a couple firsts and I would think about it.

He's been otherwordly good for you this season.

My biggest advantage has essentially been neutralized by the right arm of Alex freakin' Smith.

Offensively we are extremely similar. You have a slightly better running game (RBBC), I have a little better passing game. Defensively, however - you wax my ass. I could've tried to spread you out if Hankerson wasn't down, but with Kassim Osgood as my #4, that's probably not a great idea. Your tackles seems soft and your interior backers aren't much better, but I'm not convinced I'm well served to go ground/pound with you.

Gonna take some thought - you have a hell of a team.

Out of curiosity, who are the QBs left in L1?
L2 has:
Alex D Smith
Tom Brady
Philip Rivers
Matt Stafford/Cam Newton

What is Alex Smith's stat line in L2? He appears to be a dominant force, but I think I have several theories on that.

Clearwater has come on strong and Rodgers is on fire. Should be a good game. Hopefully Anchorage's offense can be efficient and the defense do what they've done all season - give up yards, but not points.

I'm also hoping my interior backers strengthen up next year with the addition of Beason.

He's a hoss over here, too.
