BTW, most underated post of the day

Zobrist is also a switch hitter. He will be in the lineup every day. Calling him a utility guy is probably underselling it a bit.

Is Manaea who the Reds rejected in the Cueto deal for medical reasons?

Also, does this mean Orlando goes back down?

He does have some warts that I believe he will overcome and hit his Top of Rotation upside. But he isn't without risk.

The biggest thing is that Zobrist now makes the Royals lineup just rock ****ing solid.

It should look like this, immediately:

Zobrist (LF)
Moustakas
Cain
Hosmer
Morales
Rios
Perez
Infante
Escobar

Once Gordon returns, you get this:

Zobrist/Gordon
Moustakas
Cain
Hosmer (you can make a good argument for Gordon here, too)
Morales
Gordon/Zobrist/Hosmer
Rios
Perez
Escobar

It's Ned, so I fully expect this:

Esky
Moose
Cain
Hos
Kendrys
Zobrist
Sal
Rios
Infante

Once Gordo's back:

Esky
Moose
Cain
Hos
Kendrys
Gordo
Zobrist
Sal
Rios

Probably underselling? He's been very good in his career. He's an everyday player. Zorilla!!!

It cracks me up that people keep putting Esky in the ninth spot. It isn't going to happen. You need to revise your lineup accordingly on what it should look like with that caveat.

Ben Zobrist rankings among #Royals hitters:
BB Rate - Most (12.5%)
K Rate - Least (9.6%)
AVG - 7th (.268)
OBP - 4th (.354)
SLG - 5th (.447)

1 through 5 is locked in stone. Ned's gonna pencil in Esky/Moose/Cain/Hosmer/Morales come hell or high water. So, hopefully he at least puts Zobrist in at 6.

I'd rather keep Rios in our lineup vs Omar.

I don't understand why any Royals fan is overly concerned about losing our starting pitching prospects given our track record with them.

Additionally, because this trade happened with Oakland and given what we have done to them in the last year or so, this can seemingly only work in our favor and end up being bad for Oakland.
