You are right we don’t, which is why I take issue with saying someone is dumb for decisions made when we don’t know what played into them. If he had good intentions he isn’t dumb, perhaps hopeful or naive, but not dumb. If he continues staying with her after all this then yeah it seems that would be really not smart.
