Tread pattern is made for rain traction as well which is perfect for Phoenix since I daily drive my car.

I run size 245 on front and 275 on back so I can only rotate side to side.

I have the similar problem of larger in the back so can't rotate. Does the side to side help at all? My service manager said all they could really do is check balance.

Originally, after I did the burnouts and ran her hard after the 5000 mile break in period. The back tires couldn't be rotated. I put on a set that were soft and I knew would go through fast. Then I could get a whole new set and then rotate them as needed.

Can you fit wider on the rear? Figured with the stock HP you have would have been wider than 245.

Basically performance tires wear somewhat quick and not much you can do about it since that is one of the drawbacks of grip.

I've seen guys with the Challenger go as wide as 315 in the back.

And honestly, if you are ditching tires every 5-10k anyway, going staggered isn't costing you anything.

My first set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag radials lasted 1000 miles. My second set lasted 1500.

I got 2500 miles out of a set of Nitto drag radials and purchased those again.

Car has about 5500 miles on it and is on its 4th set of rear tires.LMAO

The Nittos never hooked for me, love my ET's though - just not in the rain-

The Nittos are definitely not as soft as the ET's I was just looking to get better mileage out of them since the ET's didn't hook that great either on the street. I only got to make one trip to the track and only got to make 1 half track pass on the and ET's and it launched pretty well (I missed the 2nd to 3rd shift). People kept breaking and oiling the track constantly so it was a wasted night.

When I get my bigger wheel combo I am going to go with more of a traditional street tire like the G-Force or something and keep a spare set of back wheels with some ET's on them for track days.

Part of that is you also put down 500 hp on 245 tires. I took the stock tires off after 400 miles or so and put 275s all around. I can still break it free if I want, but I don't get as much unintended slippage. I'm also rotating at 5-6k miles with every oil change.

i read on the boards that taking the 245's off and going wider could mess up your suspension in the long term. Seemed to be about 75% of the posters had that opinion so it scared me off from going wider.

I fit 305's on my Hellcat but I had to use a heat gun to massage the inner fender liner. Also had to relocate two retaining clips via a drill.

bigjosh 12-30-2016 02:37 PM

Installed the aem cold air this morning. And flashed to cobb stage 1 tune. What a difference in sound. Power gain tbd.

Seems so odd to me that a 500HP car wouldn't come with wider rear tires standard? And surprised whoever you are taking your car to didn't bother to mention the performance benefits of bigger rear tires.

Not to mention I think the staggered stance on a RWD muscle car looks better anyway.
