Wow. Not even close IMO

This movie was more "simple". Predictable plot, story was re-hash of others....but as a summer popcorn flick, I liked it better. There were elements of Superman that I enjoyed, but the last 20 minutes left a bad taste in my mouth.

If I had a nickel every time I heard that...

LMAO What a bad cliche movie.

So just because it changed the antagonists and protagonists, it's a different movie?

It has the exact same formula as countless other action movies. The last scene is literally Independence Day with different characters.

Then by your definition, every action movie is cliche. It could see you using the term if there was a huge influx of giant monster movies, but alas, there are not.

This movie was basically the adult version of Power Rangers.

Yeah. The ****ing director made a point of saying he was making a flick that his 12 year old self would love.

It's Godzilla and co. Vs Voltron/Robotech.

It's not supposed to be original...

This, over and over.

Pacific Rim was not intended to be a deep & revolutionary movie. It's an homage to the old Toho & Daiei movies that some of us watched when the only option to see giant monsters was on Saturday and Sunday sci-fi movies on local TV.

Put yourself in that type of mindset and the movie was a blast. Keep your jaded, cynical adult mind set and the movie is stupid. I mean for the love of all that is holy; it’s a movie about giant robots fighting against giant monsters from the ocean. How much depth do you think anyone can get into a movie like that?!?

Only complaint that I have with the movie is that the monsters were fairly generic. Nothing really stood out and their designs were kind of bland.

Uh no. This movie just had the same elements of most action movies. It was predictable as hell. It's a cookie cutter movie with different characters. Seriously, is there any element of the movie that took you by surprise?

Movies like these have a hard time because people come in with the wrong expectations.

Im looking forward to seeing this movie for what it is: Eye Candy. Im not looking for witty dialogue, great acting or a great plot.

That's not what movies like this are. If you can get past that and accept it for what it's meant to be you might enjoy it a bit more.

Yea, I don't know what people expect? I highly doubt Del Toro intended to make some Oscar bait masterpiece. He knows its B movie junk, but its an homage to those old movies. its supposed to be light fun.

You completely missed the point of this movie. I am sorry you found it boring. I, on the other hand, enjoyed it immensely. This is the same thing that happened with Avatar. People were mad that the story of that masterpiece was unoriginal. LMAO

What was the point of it?

And I didn't find it boring per say, just amazingly predictable. I guessed what the end result of each character would be when they were first introduced and I was right on basically all of them.
