I think Peterson went too far, and he may be a little ignorant also. He's going by how he was disciplined as a child.

I kind of understand where he's coming from, as far as trying to discipline his kids like he was disciplined, and thinking it helped him turn out alright, but that's too much.

I received whippings as a child but not that much and never like that. Having said that, I remember my mother telling me that my grandmother would whip them so bad it left welts sometime. Petersons kid wounds remind me of that but maybe a little worst. It seemed like he was just wailing away on him, any kind of way, in every direction (judging by hitting him in the scrotum) I can't imagine he would just aim in that area, that's just stupid.

I don't think I could whip my kids, but I don't have any, so I'm not sure. I know some kids can be bad as hell and it seems like nothing works.(this is what I've heard from co workers who are parents). I know whenever I got a whoopin, whatever it was I did, i never did it again, but that just how I was.

I don't think he should lose his career over this but, he needs some counseling. He also needs to not insist on doing it again.

Also, I thought the kid was 11 but I'm reading some people say he was 4?

I was punished too but I wasn't also openly bleeding from the front of my legs or had my nads whipped with a belt.

Look this is CP so I am going to be made out to be a person who enjoys beating kids or whatever and that's not true. Fact is there is no joy or shouldn't be any involved in corporal punishment.

But the fact is some kids need whipped. With switches? Not necessarily but that is the tradition in many parts of this country. And guess what, most kids who grew up with some welts on their ass and legs from a switch grew up to be just fine.

As I stated earlier I never whipped my daughter because it wasn't needed.

I also know for fact I have witnessed many a child including relatives children who could have used a good switching to get their shit straight.

No, you're not a person who enjoys beating kids. In this thread we've had parents here chime in about spanking their kids as a swat on the bottom with the hand. It's concerning that you're being cool with "thin switch" beatings as discipline, though, just because you turned out fine.

You're also right about this type of discipline environment being the standard for numerous cultures in this country and around the world. That's absolutely the case, but in each case, we're talking about causing harm to a child, and the rationale for it is, "My parents did it, so that's what I know."

You made the choice to not beat your daughter. Why? It wasn't just because she didn't do shit that deserved it, either. Your daughter has never disobeyed you or gotten into trouble for shit? You probably did some of the same stuff that your daughter did that got you the switch. Why did you say, "I don't need to do what my parents did to me here"?

They are reporting that these pictures are 1-2 weeks after the fact.

They also dont show the hands, scrotum, belly, upper back that is listed as having injury as well.
