Do you guys really like Yost though? It wasn't until probably the ALCS last year that people started thinking that Yost was better than the worst manager in baseball. He was a punchline before then.
Do you guys really think he is a good manager or does he simply have a really good team? I honestly think the latter, but you guys watch more Royals games than I do.

He's a below average manager. He has alot of easy decisions because our bullpen is so good and he usually doesn't have to worry about matchups. People like him this year because his goofy, oddball things have worked.
Did hitting Moose #2 for a while make Moose a better hitter? It's unlikely. Moose put in the work in the offseason to figure out how to be a better rounded hitter and beat the shift. Hitting him 8th or 2nd or whatever, doesn't matter, he was going to be a better player.
We have a better winning percentage when we lead off Escobar than when we don't. Is that statistically relevant? Probably not.
It's difficult to really know how much these decisions really make any difference or not. I'm in the camp of not being results oriented with a manager...because in the grand scheme of things they aren't that important. Ned Yost being the Brewers manager this year wasn't going to climb them out of the cellar, or do anything else in particular. Players play. It's a players game.
So, I'm not a big Ned Yost fan when it comes to analytics and tactical decision making. I could and many others could go on even a longer list of stuff he has done that makes little sense.
With that said, the game isn't all x's and o's. He's a great clubhouse presence, by all accounts the guys love him. He's a players manager, and always has his guys back. So have to give him some credit there, but I feel being a clubhouse presence has so little to do with actual wins and losses.
