For real.
I don't understand all the bashing of Royals fans for not showing up during losing seasons. Look around you. When teams win, fans show up (except in Tampa Bay). When teams lose, fans don't show up. Nobody supports losing teams except for maybe the Cubs fans. The Cardinals haven't been lousy long enough in recent years to even know if their fans will show up or not.

Personal fact regarding my group of friends. When the Royals were losing we went to 20-25 games a year. Now we all go to about 10-15 because it's become far more of an event. We used to head to the K on the random and score seats for peanuts. Now it's to see certain match ups, crown seats, playoffs, etc...
I travel weekly and I must admit here is a personal dichotomy happening when i see all the casuals wearing royals championship gear, but also know that the revenue and huge upswing in the fan following is a positive for our team.
Tl;dr
I can understand where a rival baseball team would roll it's eyes at the Royals gargantuan upswing in local popularity
