STAR TREK TONIGHT

First episode that I've really liked so far.

Might be because of limited Michelle Hurd. Realized today that I'm just not a fan of her character. Also limited Alison Pill.

This is soooooooooooooooo much better than Discovery.

I'm genuinely torn between thinking Hugh is actually in on it and RomuLegolas is about to get a phaser to the back of his head, and Picard and FemmeData went somewhere REALLY BAD....or that they actually escaped and the next episode is going to be Hugh and RomuLegolas escaping the cube and the others making a rendezvous with Picard.

Either way...****ing amazing. And I'm incredibly curious who the blurred-out-face dad is supposed to be....is it Data....someone else?

My guess would be Data's brother, Lore, is involved. There's gotta be a reason those androids attacked everyone on Mars. Perhaps he's the greater target the Romulans are after.

Honestly, the fact that Lore hasn't been mentioned at all yet in a Trek series that is completely about artificial lifeforms (and their capacity for both good/evil) and in particular about twin androids, is probably telling that he'll likely show up at some point.

Yeah, some idiot like Maddox when he couldn't get his hands on Data any longer (both because Data at first won his tribunal decision against him and then was later destroyed).

There's an aspect of Romulan history and mythology to this that we haven't been shown yet. Why the hatred of synthetics? Why do they keep talking as if there are more advanced synthetics out there, more than just Dahj and Soji? And I think there's some connection to the Borg that hasn't been revealed.

Excellent. They'd just be stupid not to do it. Mount portrays Pike as basically a cross between Kirk and Picard, and Romijn has the potential to be a bad ass without being a scenery-chewing Mary Sue. There's an absolute gold mine of material for them to work with; we could get Garth as a recurring character, and maybe even meet a young Kirk serving on the Farragut. And outside of Pike and Spock, any crew member could be killed off, so we could get some real drama.
