I 2nd this...

TambaBerry 07-07-2013 07:15 PM

last day for a trade to happen, let me know if interested.

TambaBerry 07-07-2013 07:16 PM

Clearwater cleaned up on that trade wow.

Hammock Parties 07-07-2013 07:17 PM

****, now Clearwater has a RB.

Bastard. :)

Hammock Parties 07-07-2013 07:21 PM

Jesus Christ.

Portland must really like 2nd round picks, because I can't see a single other reason to make that trade.

DJ's left nut 07-07-2013 07:46 PM

The market for RBs had dried up. Everyone that wanted one had already dealt for one or snagged one in the draft. He was committed to keeping one of them with Rodgers as his #2 RB so I offered him a 2nd rounder for either CJ or McCoy. He countered with a 2nd and Reed and said he'd rather keep McCoy. I said that was nuts, Reeds listed as an OLB but he's an excellent Sam linebacker. He's good in coverage and very strong at sealing the edge in run support. Guys like that were going for 100+ in FA and he needed another OLB badly after getting blown out of the water on the Rob Jackson bidding.

I said I'd send him Reed if I could get a replacement 4-3 backer for him (as those are cheaper/easier to find than 3-4 OLBs). Burnett was the only one he had that I liked and he countered by demanding a starting NT in return; I had Pouha so it worked out.

Yeah, I think I got the better of the deal, but with the market for RBs having gone soft, I'm not sure how he'd have done a hell of a lot better.

Hammock Parties 07-07-2013 07:57 PM

You gave up street trash and a 2nd for a potential Pro Bowl RB AND a badass LB.

It was a raping and I admire you.

And here I thought had denied you this whole time by keeping Bradshaw from you.

You're going to be a very, very tough out now.

The rich get richer.

Hammock Parties 07-07-2013 09:03 PM

The Lunar North.

One of these things is not like the others...

Tom Brady - CJ Spiller - Roddy White
Philip Rivers - Frank Gore - Hakeem Nicks
Andrew Luck - LeSean McCoy - Demaryius Thomas
Alex Smith - Bryce Brown - Josh Gordon

:D

True. Only one team has the best QB in the league.

I doubt I make the playoffs but I feel like my team is pretty strong.

Brees with that stable of wrs and a legitimate defense could take you pretty far. You've got a lot to work with there.

TambaBerry 07-07-2013 09:38 PM

Ya I have to ride brees arm

TambaBerry 07-07-2013 09:43 PM

So the games get simmed tomorrow? How long do they take or when will we know?

lostcause 07-07-2013 09:54 PM

Anybody who wants to make a last minute move I've got cbs and 3-4 DEs/4-3 DTs and a LT that can be on the block. Not to mention willing to deal draft picks, for and away.

CDCox usually posts after the games have been played.

cdcox 07-07-2013 10:06 PM

Actually, I sim the games directly on the server. You guys see them as soon as I do.

I don't have a good way of testing sims right now. So I'll probably take the whole site down so I can chase down any bugs in the first group of sims. I haven't had time to do my game planning so I'll have to do that too before running the sims. Could be 10 or 11 EST before they are posted on this first round. I still have a couple of hours worth of database building to do tonight before we'll be ready. I probably won't get to the roster issues until the first week of sims are through.

rtmike 07-07-2013 10:47 PM

The databases are all ready to go.

Now that all that work is out of the way, I'm looking forward to the sims as well.

You're going to be a very, very tough out now.

Where you damn near blew me out of the water was with Nick Barnett.

When I realized you were making 'defensive' trade demands on Bradshaw (needing more from me than you would anyone else), I started working on the CJ deal. I saw Barnett was still out there and had generated literally zero bids two weeks into the FA period. I figured I'd try to sneak him onto the roster and then would gladly have made the 2nd and Reed for CJ swap.

You bid him over my remaining FA budget even though you clearly didn't need him. Once I couldn't get him or Leroy Hill (I'm firmly convinced that people are waiting for players to get bids on them and not doing their own homework at this point), I had to get more creative.

I really thought that losing out on Barnett and Hill was going to keep me from having the roster depth to find my RB.

What am I missing on Leroy Hill? I signed him for 15 originally, and then just couldn't find room on my roster for him. Seems like he played well in 2012, but he still hasn't even found a home for 2013, has he?

Were you guys just looking for a one year rental, or are you relatively certain he's going to catch on somewhere? I thought there was a pretty good chance he would, but I didn't think it was worth keeping him around to see.

I just wanted him for a rental. Like I said, he would've been a capable replacement for Reed if I needed to deal him and couldn't get a LBer in return.

I missed out on Barnett to get my Guards and I dick pick up Hill as a rental. I was pissed off I lost him but I cant complain with the LB's I have now. I needed the interior of the line solidified even more so...

So my OL now looks like this:

Sam Baker - Paul McQuiston - Will Montgomery - Mike McGlynn - Andre Smith

Backups - J. backus (lt), K. Urbik (g), J. Goodwin (c)

I need Jamaal to run crazy...

LB are a 4-3 D with R. Jackson - D. Johnson - Z. Brown w/ L. Hill and Manny Lawson backing them up

rageeumr 07-08-2013 11:36 AM

So now that FA is over, who got the best steal? It's probably not in the running for best overall signing, but the one that pisses me off the most was Clay getting Garrett Reynolds for $1. He's not a pro bowler, but he's likely to start in 2013.

I was in need of a guard but let him slip off the board early while I was chasing 4 or 5 other guys.

Then bid for him before next year. He'll be a free agent before the 2013 season unless the Broncos franchise him.

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 11:43 AM

I don't think yo ushould look at it as getting a steal for 1 dollar. He now only has that player for one year unless he uses one of his two resigning options for next year.

Heh heh.

I'm pretty stacked at guard so I'm probably going to move a couple next offseason in trades. Might just re-sign him (you can re-sign two players I believe before they hit FA) since I don't have a lot of key players coming free.

I'm pretty thrilled with getting Kerry Rhodes for something like $35.

I'm not in love with the guy. In fact he wouldn't have even seen the field for me this year. But he's a great depth/upside pick up for $1. Just caught my eye because, in hindsight, he's exactly what I should have been looking for and I let him get smuggled out from under me for $1.

DJ's left nut 07-08-2013 12:07 PM

My favorite signing for me for the offseason was still my most expensive one - Tarell Brown.

$115 for a legitimate #1 cover corner who still has 3+ good seasons in him is a steal, IMO. As the FA market progressed, guys with nowhere near his upside were going for that price and more.

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 12:37 PM

I feel like my Jason Hatcher pick up was great and surprised he didn't go for more.

Game planning ?

Why can't I flex out a TE in 4 and 5WR sets
They aren't being used at another position

I was going to post something similar in the Sandgestian thread, but hadn't gotten around to it.

I can't really justify running a 4 wide if I have to run Gronk off the field and bring in Heyward-Bey.

That's similar to my suggestion that's already in there.

If you could likst Gronk as your starting TE and WR4, the problem would be solved. But Sandbox won't allow you to list a guy in multiple positions, even if they're in backup roles.

sfchief 07-08-2013 02:10 PM

Yep why take one of ur best weapons off the field gronk in the slot is nasty

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 03:03 PM

Im sure it will be available at a later time. I want this to but for the defense in obvious passing situations I want my best pass rushers and coverage linebackers.

cdcox 07-08-2013 07:07 PM

Ok, I'm taking the site down to load the databases and run the first week of simulations. I'll let everyone know when they are posted, hopefully within an hour or two.

I'll remind everyone that the best way to view your results is to go to the League Schedule and then click the play by play of your game. That way you can "watch" the game without knowing who won. Afterwards you can check out the box score and look at the standings and stats.

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 10:13 PM

It's killing me, I just have to know!

ChiefAshhole20 07-08-2013 10:37 PM

Joe Flacco threw two picks and didnt score until less than a minute left in the game where he threw a go-ahead TD... I love this thing

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:39 PM

I went right down the field for a TD on my first drive of the season. This is exciting! I have a big play offense!

You must be new to this.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:43 PM

Jesus, I give up an 82-yard TD drive and Brady now throws a pick, and an immediate TD for Independence. 2nd quarter SUCKS.

cdcox 07-08-2013 10:44 PM

Holy Crap the Independence Denver game was one for the ages. I'm shaking with excitement after finishing it.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:45 PM

Dwayne Allen has 2 drops and an offensive pass interference so far. I hate him.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:47 PM

Ooh! A 49-yard KO return by Marcus Thigpen. Great FA signing.

DJ's left nut 07-08-2013 10:47 PM

After Week One, the single worst QB in Sandbox League 1 is...

{drumroll}

Aaron Rodgers.

Seriously, it's hard to overstate how un-****ing-believably ineffective my passing game was in this game. 4 YPA? A 58% completion rate? Aaron Rodgers was utter garbage today.

On the plus side, the Clearwater defense was everything I thought it could be. If I can win a game where both of my RBs are crap, my QB is even greater crap and my best player is Mike Scifres....well it's a good sign.

Rodgers needs to get his shit in order soon though.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:48 PM

50-yard field goal by Greg the Leg! It's 17-13 in the third.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:49 PM

ANOTHER 49-yard kickoff return by Thigpen. Wow.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:50 PM

BRADY TO WELKER! TOUCHDOWN!

We're all tied up.

cdcox 07-08-2013 10:51 PM

it's about to get exciting

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:52 PM

BRADY TO WELKER AGAIN! 44 YARD TD STRIKE! WOOOOOO

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:53 PM

Big stop by my defense with 5 minutes left. Run this clock out boys.

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 10:53 PM

Dominating performances by both my teams.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:54 PM

A FUMBLED SNAP ON THIRD AND 3?

Wow, I want to kill someone.

Very pleased with that 61-yard punt on the next snap.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:55 PM

OH GOD DAMMIT. A TD given up on 4th and goal. WTF DEFENSE

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 10:55 PM

A 58-YARD KICKOFF RETURN BY THIGGY! HE IS MY HERO!

GREG THE LEG WINS IT FROM 55 YARDS OUT!!!

WOW WHAT AN AMAZING GAME!

Denver 30, Independence 27

ChiefAshhole20 07-08-2013 10:58 PM

So do we change our lineups/game plans for the next game now? When should we expect the 2nd one to be simmed?

Look at the box score. I should have won by a TD, but Thigpen erased my rushing advantage. Insane game by him.

Not sure what happened to my pass rush either. I really game planned for this one.

Great game.

Next sims on Wednesday night

TambaBerry 07-08-2013 11:00 PM

Timmons with an int return for a td.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 11:06 PM

I figured going in your DTs were going to shut down my running game. Not a good game for Spiller at all, although he had two very key carries on third down that set up scores.

Whoever was covering Pierre Garcon should be cut tomorrow. This is Pierre ****ing Garcon we're talking about, not Larry Fitzgerald.

Yeah, I'm not really pleased with a lot of my team right now. Giving up 100 yards to Marcel Reese? No sacks?

Praise be to Marcus Thigpen and Greg the Leg. 198 yards in kickoff returns and FGs from 50 and 55 yards.

Hammock Parties 07-08-2013 11:08 PM

Pat McAfee averaged 56 yards per punt. LMAO

Special teams, baby.
