I'd be surprised if the Royals draft Bubba anyway.

A) he might not be available; and
B) If he IS available, its going to take a crapload of $$$ to get him away from going to Nebraska.

Never forget, David Glass is cheap. Yes, he is cheap compared to other MLB owners.

Although a guy named "Bubba" could draw a big crowd to the NW Arkansas Naturals games. Those are the only games Glass really cares about, since that's his hometown team.

He might pass so the Cards can draft him. Glass is a big Cardinal fan, you know...

Not in the draft he's not, not the last several years.

I'm going to be Hochevar-level pissed if we pass on Starling in favor of a "safer" (and lesser) talent.

its amazing how someone can follow the royals as much as you do, and still know so little.

I'm gonna be Justin Houston in the third round-level shocked if he's there when we pick.

we aren't taking Bubba. Better get ready for it now.

He might not be. Dude has as much, if not more, upside than anyone in the draft (on paper, of course).

There will likely be some unknown drafted in the 38th round who goes on to a HOF career.

We have been paying out the ass to our draft picks. Big league roster is totally different.

EVERYBODY pays out the ass for first rounders.

In 2007, ESPN chose Glass as the 6th greediest owner in all major sports.
Not that much has changed. We're actually on a pace right now to finish worse than we did last year.

The big difference is that we've been drafting first-round talent in other rounds. These players drop because of signability concerns, and we've been picking them up, regularly.

This started with the Hosmer draft of '08 when we took Melville in the fourth and gave him first-round money.

This has been a consistent approach since then.

Well, at least you're consistent, using a 2007 article to defend a 2007 belief.
