I'd much rather have Zobrist at third than Cuthbert. That guy would be a butcher at the 6.[/QUOTE]

Really? I thought he had been at 3rd for most of his career (admittedly I haven't checked his defensive metrics).

Hootie 07-28-2015 01:52 PM

I'm not going to complain about Esky at #1 but there is no god damn reason Zobrist or Gordon shouldn't be leadoff ... Esky is a perfect #9 hitter with his speed and his ability to hit for average.

Royals fans have fell in love too quick with Cuthbert. He's not even close to ready yet ... and would be an abortion defensively as an every day 3rd baseman.

I'll be really disappointed if Ned/Dayton don't view Zobrist as the everyday platoon for Dyson/Infante (or at least most every day). We don't need Infante hitting against righties and we don't need Dyson hitting against lefties now that we have Zobrist.

More importantly, he damn well better be an everyday player given the cost. And I'd rather see Hootie's platoon with Dyson out there more often than if we put Zobrist in LF every day.

The truth is it doesn't matter. This team is winning the division, and we're likely going to do it with style. All that really matters is if Gordon comes back add a healthy, productive player in time for the postseason. At that point, Zobrist plays second.

I guess that assumes Rios continues to play at his pre-injury level, but the gap between Infante and Zobrist is huge. The gap between he and Rios/Dyson/Orlando is much smaller.

It doesn't make much sense to me to make THIS type of move and hit the guy 6th, but then again, neither does hitting Gordon 6th.

When Gordon is healthy, I can't imagine them hitting these guys 6-7. That would be pretty ****ing stupid.

Right, but you know it isn't going to happen so why bother? Your lineup prediction with Esky batting leadoff would be more relevant and interesting given it will be what is played out in reality.

seems to me that Salvy and Cain have become the "heart" of the team

Cain is sooooooooo clutch

Glad we have all 3 of them(salvy, esky, cain)

Definitely. Theres really no way to even know what you have in Cuthbert, for god sakes he's only had 18 ABs. He still hit in the .250s in the minors, he still has concerns from scouts about being avg defensively, and he's still like 22 years old.

mr. tegu 07-28-2015 01:59 PM

It is fairly obvious that Zobrist should be in LF verse lefties and at 2B verse righties. That plays to the strengths of Zobrist, Dyson, and Infante the best. It also gives them playing time in the correct order of ability.

RealSNR 07-28-2015 01:59 PM

Zobrist has had the most success when he's played RF and 2nd.

While Gordon is out, are we going to put him at left? Or switch someone else in there and put Zobrist at right?

Dyson and Orlando have both played LF recently. No reason to not put Zobrist where he is most comfortable to start off.

Interesting to see if Yost actually pulls Infante some.

Our depth is pretty darn good now regardless
