Well sweeping the brewers at Milwaukee was a good thing. Too bad it's also too late.

I think realistically if you looked at the team after the loss of Wainwright, this team was not expected to win. I certainly didn't expect the pen to tank so badly. The fact they are still fighting is something Cardinals fans can be proud of. Its still not over, but looking at 2012 there is a big cloud hanging over this team with many contacts coming up for renewal, including the 800 lb gorilla named Albert. I am also doubting that LaRussa comes back next year.

2013 with the resigning of Waino and the arrival of Miller and Matinzez will kick off another window of oppertunity for Cardinal fans.

Top 3 pitching starters give you the best chance to win playoff games and Championships.

So if Pujols doesn't get signed, do the Cardinals go in rebuilding mode and let Berkman and Carpenter fly as well?

No way Dewitt goes into full rebuilding mode. They want their 3 million. Won't get that in an obvious rebuilding year. Which it will be anyway.

Look for Carp and Furcal's one year deals to get reworked into two year deals and Berkman to get a one year guarantee deal and a mutual option year for a 2nd year. They need to bridge to the new era. We will have a new manager and maybe a new GM in 2013.

Carp can still pitch and provide leadership to our young pitchers.

If Berkman falls off a cliff we have Craig ready.

We have no one to play SS. Furcal for two more years and hope we have someone come out of the minors or buy us a FA SS in 2014.

I think the most telling stat for this team, with all the good athletes we have, Tyler Green leads the team in stolen bases.

And Green plays like an All Star in AAA and then when he gets up to the big show and plays like a little leaguer.:hmmm:

I just read the Cardinals are on pace to break a 50 year old ground into double plays record. This team has absolutely no aggression on the basepaths.

How will we know if we don't give him a chance?

Green needs a couple weeks as the starter to see what we have. He has the pedigree and his AAA numbers this season are beyond what we've ever seen from him (suggesting the proverbial light has turned on).

Alas, Tony's dumb ass will continue to play washouts like Ryan Theriot because "they've earned it..."
