Kansas State basketball coach Bruce Weber says senior forward Nino Williams is doubtful to play against Kansas on Saturday while he recovers from a sprained left knee.

Williams suffered the injury earlier this week against West Virginia, forcing him to watch the majority of that game from the bench. Medical tests showed no structural damage to Williams’ knee, meaning he will be ready to return in the near future. Maybe just not in time for a trip to Allen Fieldhouse.

“The positive thing is there was no structural damage where he would need surgery and be out for the year,” Weber said. “The negative is, it is one of those things that is a sprain, a strain, an irritation, where it is going to be his pain tolerance. We are just going to have to go based on him. Now, he is a tough guy. He has lived with pain ever since I have been here.”

Weber said Williams underwent multiple treatments on Wednesday and Thursday, spending time running in a pool and shooting free throws.

K-State trainers will evaluate Williams before Saturday’s 1 p.m. tip.

“If he can’t play it must be hurting,” Weber said. “Miracles happen. Maybe we get him in a little bit tomorrow and see what happens. Obviously, we want him Saturday, but we also have to look at the next 10 games after that.”

Virginia is going to beat the living piss out of Duke on Saturday. They are the best college basketball team I've seen in a long time. Them or Kentucky is like splitting hairs. Best teams since the 08 KU teams IMO.

I haven't gotten to see Virginia play yet but I'm familiar with Bennett and his pack line defense. I'll be watching that game tomorrow for sure.

Rumors are that it will indeed be KU/UK but both will likely agree to a home and home. We only have one true road game (San Diego State) so look for us to likely play at Rupp next year then UK comes to AFH the following year. But it looks like it'll happen regardless of where first.
