Probably why ned gave him three full innings last night. One more time unless someone gets hurt. Also, can zobrist catch with an earpiece feed directly from salvy so we can send down butera?

I dig Butera's pitch framing. I can stand TPJ style batting if he's consistently able to bring out the most from our pitchers.

I would guess Zobrist plays LF until Gordon is back. I like Hootie's platoon but am not sure the team is willing to do that. I'd love to see him at 2B against RHP.

Zobrist actually has very little career experience at 3B but has over 1700 career innings at SS, playing basically league average defense.

Yeah. I meant to say short, not third...hence the '6'. I don't want Cuthbert at shortstop...ever.

I haven't had a real chance to watch the games since late May. I was in Nepal for all of June and have been helping my parents out with their new baby since coming home in Mid July (no cable).

Been following every game via Gameday (since being home, Nepal I could only see the box scores) & 580, though.

It would be incredibly stupid to not do my platoon ... the only reason not to, would be to protect Infante since he's under contract for a few more years. It literally doesn't make sense to have Jarrod Dyson, Omar Infante and Ben Zobrist and conclude Dyson is a bench player and Omar is an every day player when the splits line up amazingly for Zobrist to be the every day guy while Omar/Dyson platoon.

Especially since Rios is not the weak link, it's Infante. When Gordon gets back, Zobrist should take over every day at 2nd base.

They can also put Zobrist in right and Infante at 2nd and give Rios some days off to keep everyone fresh, too.

More like he ONLY catches the way hop. He waits back for the big hop instead of going after the ball. It's sort of okay at third. You can't do that at short, though.

Good news. Dayton--I'm assuming you're him since you never source your shit--thank you for what you've done this week.

Say it ain't so, Joe. Expected but I wish we would have had a month to evaluate his value as a long man compared to Youngs. Oh well.

I'd like to know how Zobrist feels about becoming a Royal.

It is fairly obvious that Zobrist should be in LF verse lefties and at 2B verse righties. That plays to the strengths of Zobrist, Dyson, and Infante the best. It also gives them playing time in the correct order of ability.

We can also pull the vaunted double switch late in games. If Dyson is playing and the other team brings in a LOOGY we can pinch hit Infante and move Zobrist to LF.

He's leaving Oakland. There's only one way to feel about that...
