No. I guess he sets a "hard deck" number, every season? He's a businessman, so that'd make sense for him to think that way.

But if Andy/Veach came to him and said, "hey, we need this guy and it's going to take "x" millions to get it done," Clark would probably do it. He has no reason not to have 100% trust in those two.

Hunt would probably say "Didn't you just win the SB without a star WR?"

We’ve had 10 home games each of the past 5 years, not to mention the cash that has been generated by our immense success and the new TV money flowing.

This is really kind of disgusting to hear if true.

And now you know why the Chiefs will be demanding a new stadium soon.

Lol. probably not. Clark ain't dumb. he doesn't stick his nose into the details of the team. he obviously lets Andy/Veach handle that sort of thing. he just writes the checks.

Didn't Hunt take a more hands on approach when he hired Reid and Dorsey, saying large subjects get decided between all three of them but that he has the last word?

Now that's been years ago and you are probably right with the thought of Hunt relaxing a lot with Veach and what he has done.

Okay, so I was a little hyperbolic with that; Clark isn't just sitting there like a bobblehead.

But he's not micromanaging the team, imo. Obviously, I don't hang out with Clark, Andy and Veach. And we do know that Andy reports directly to Clark. So does Veach.

I just imagine that Andy and Veach figure out what they want to do, and if they're going to try and go above whatever the 'hard' number' is, they go to Clark and lay out their argument. And after five AFCCG, 3 SBs, and 2 SB Rings, I'm guessing Clark trusts Andy/Veach to make solid decisions. If they're both all-in on a guy, my bet is that Clark believes in them enough to go along with it.

Makes sense.

Also answer the bolded question...pick one if you could for a week! I gotta go Veach this time of year haha

Lol, yeah, with you on that one. Andy would be awesome to hang with, talk football, or really just listen to him talk about it. It would be "mind blown" sort of stuff for sure.

Clark's kind of KC royalty; probably would have a hard time sitting and talking with the King, you know?

Veach though, he's close enough to a mere mortal still that you could just hang out and have a beer with, probably.

The market is very clearly already coming to them. There's no way the Cardinals have as much leverage as they thought they would've a month ago (the Ramsey and Cooks trades and the fact that it's been an anti-Christian-Kirk offseason for WRs tell you that). The Chiefs have already gotten past the stage at which it's going to be an overpay and now it's just a question of whether another team is willing to pay more than the Chiefs will.

I agree with others that I don't think the draft compensation is really that big of a deal for Veach at this point and about 90% contract and if AZ will pay any of that on a trade like Houston did on Cooks deal.

Ya Reid always comes off so ho hum in press conferences but I'm guessing if you sat down with him he could blow your mind with the actual X's and O's of things.

It's really starting to sound like the Chiefs are just waiting out the Cardinals and a deal will more than likely be done if the Cardinals come down to a reasonable price.
